Even if you got your Wii U last month and played 24/7 until you hit 300 hours, it's amazing that you haven't burned your flash drive out! You're actually remarkably lucky.

I've had my games running off a flash drive since I got my Wii U and it still works

and I have logged a little over 300 hours in Xeno X

You have been extremely lucky then. Even nintendo have said to never use a flash drive instead of a hdd due to the WIIU constantly writing to and from the usb storage. Flash drives are designed for constant reading from but not writing to whereas a HDD is designed for constant reading and writing.

Don't forget not all flash drives are created equal. you can get some pretty hard wearing ones if you are willing to pay for it, or some almost ready to crap the bed out of the box tat off ebay, and everything in between.

But yeah, there can be no argument, that constant read/writes to any flash based memory is bad for it. It's why even SSD's need to use things like TRIM, or they wear out far faster than is reasonable.

Plus there are always those that beat the odds. Even if they had a 90% failure rate(hypothetical) it would still mean 1 in 10 would survive. But you really wouldn't want to buy something knowing that.
