xbox issue

I attempted a softmod on my xbox and I forgot to check to make sure the dashboard is up to date. I got an error during the softmod installation and the system shutdown by itself. It turns out it wasn't ( or at least I think!), so now I just get a black screen after the Xbox logo. My Splinter Cell game still boots up just fine, but my Conker's Live and Reloaded doesn't ( it just goes to a black screen as well). Does this mean it's bricked? I never was able to backup my Eeprom, is there any info on how to fix this? Also I do have a modchip (an Xecuter 3) if that's the only solution.

Does your Box have the chip installed?
If yes, you can simply boot up Slayers CD and install a fresh C drive.

If you got access to FTP on the box, you could also delete the contents of the C drive and copy a clean install of UnleashX to the C drive.
Note: do not power off the Xbox when attempting the latter, doing so will fuck up your box and the only recovery is a modchip and Slayers CD.

no I didn't install it yet. I just attempted a softmod so far and got an error while it was installing. I think I forgot to update the dashboard with the Xbox Live update

I di use Splinter Cell and the game boots up but I haven't tried the exploited save again. Wasn't I supposed to update the dash first?

You'll have FTP access to the box, If you can boot into the softmod menu again that is.
Idk what dash you have installed but it should be irrelevant if you want to replace your C drive with a copy of me own freshly hacked C (it has UnleashX on it and is completely stock)

If you got access to your alternate dash (Evox, UnleashX Avalaunch etc) you also got access to FTP.

I should mention that replacing your C drive with another copy doesn't impact the Xbox at all.
Your saves are stored on the D drive.

how do I use ftp? Do I enter the softmod menu, plug in an ethernet cable to my computer, then use a client like Filezilla, or do I do it wirelessly with an IP address?

Xbox has no wireless so it must be connected to a router (with a LAN cable).
Prefferably your PC/laptop as well.
You can also bridge a Wifi and LAN card on a laptop and stick it into the XBox and get a FTP connection going.

Anyway.
You'll want to boot up something that gives you FTP access, be it the softmod menu or the alternate dash.
After that you type in the IP of the Xbox into FileZilla, User/Pass are "xbox" and the Port is 21.
Navigate to C and delete everything inside the C folder.
Then copy the contents of the C folder of the archive you downloaded to the C drive on the xbox.
Reboot and enjoy a working dash (patched MS Dash 5960 + UnleashX)

I'll say it again.
Make sure you DO NOT power off your xbox when you're deleting/copying contents from and to the C drive of the box.
Doing so will result in a "brick" that's only mendable with a modchip.

you don't need a router for ftp, you can use a data crossover cable instead. then you just ftp from computer to xbox.

no dice with the hard drive copy you gave me. The SC hack I have automatically tries to install the softmod, instead of just bringing me to a menu so I can FTP the shit over. I guess modchip is my only option at this point
