That gif is really old and hardly a valid response. Stop posting it, it's just plain annoying now.

But we're "dissing" the Kinect because the demos and previews have been lame and the game library at launch is pitiful. The new stuff that seems possibly worthwhile still doesn't seem to be worth paying $150 for a Kinect. It's a poor concept with a poor library and poor demos and previews. That's a poor product for ya.

Yeah the Kinect has nothing to appeal to me either, the Move does look better but the only game I was interested in on that was Sorcery which to be honest could be better with a regular pad.

Were it not for the relative failure of DX10 and/or vista (still causing developers to have to code DX9 versions of things- granted the 360 and PS3 being DX9 compatible hardware based probably did not hurt) I reckon the effect would be far more pronounced.

In the past, console generation have been about 5 or 6 years apart so if this was any other generation then we'd likely see a new set of consoles out soon. But the thing is that MS and Sony have now hit a brick wall. Since their last consoles came out there's been much less of a noticable change as there has been with previous consoles.

Think NES->SNES->PSX->N64->PS2->360 All of those jumps in generation have come with rather noticable advancements in quality. If they released a new console now with new technology, the majority of people are simply going to be squinting to figure out whether their character model has a higher poly count or higher res textures. Otherwise it just wouldn't sell as well because there's no immediate wow factor overr the current gen of consoles.

So as much as I hate to admit Sony was right, maybe their 10 year plan wasn't too unrealistic. I think it's going to be at least another 3 years before we see a new generation of consoles from MS and Sony because otherwise there just won't be enough of a graphical wow factor for people to even take notice.

Nintendo on the other hand may well likely bring out another console in the next few years to add a bit more power and bring them more in line with the 360 and PS3 but they'll market it with some form of new feature with a graphical bump as an extra like the 3DS

Just thought of this actually, the thing Nintendo probally will do in the next years (before MS & Sony releases new consoles) is releasing a successor for the Wii with huge improvements on the hardware and most important of all: It´ll be a Wii3D!
