Xbox 360 sales explode in June

As we wait for this month's NPD report we're already seeing Microsoft trumpeting their success in June. Today Aaron Greenberg tweeted that the Xbox 360 was the top selling console in the month of June. The full quote from the Director of Product Management for Xbox 360 and Xbox Live is:

"Look out hare, here comes the tortoise…post E3 bump & new console drives Xbox 360 sales up 88% as top selling console in June"

It looks as though the redesigned Xbox 360 has given Microsoft a significant boost even without a price drop. We'll have the rest of June's NPD data coming later today.

People want to give shit to the Slim because it's Microsoft but the console is getting great reception. It doesn't red ring (don't go "HURR HURR BECAUSE IT DOESN'T HAVE RED LIGHTS"; in fact it has better ventilation... I think), it has built in Wi-Fi, doesn't need an energy supply from an outlet for Kinect (if you buy a Kinect, poor suckers), etc. It's a good console.

Well the Slim was also half the price of a standard PS3 while this is actually pricier than other Xbox models.

But yeah, remodels = cash. People just like "OH SHINY NEW".

I would think the built-in wifi receiver counts as a price drop. When I bought one for my brother's 360, it cost freakin $80+ tax.

many have, where if you ask me its jsut a case mod

MS have the biggest balls and lowered the warranty for RRoD and e74 to 1 year now for those consoles ... very bad move in my opinion.

Because a bunch of random kiddies Youtube vids totally prove that. Anyway it has an automatic shut off if it begins to overheat and there's also improved ventilation, so if you get the so called Red Ring it's your fault.

As for disc scratching, it's just safe enough to say to not be stupid and fall on your console.
