The experimental Real Time Save feature of Wood for the R4iDSN has been updated. This update includes some speed increases over previous builds. Please note that this code is extremely experimental and users are advised to back up their microSD cards before updating.

Important Distinction
Now, there are so many fake Wood R4 versions which have nothing to do with me. Only Wood R4 for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com), and AK RPG are supported by me. I can only fix bugs for these specific releases. Do not post bug reports or ask for updates for clone cards running a fake version of Wood.

Change Log said:
  • rts still in beta stage.
  • improved timers state saving/loading.
  • read/write core rewritten - about x10 launch/save/load speedup.
    • launching - 1s,
    • loading - 4-6s,
    • saving - 5-7s.
This is update is very experimental, so !!!BACKUP YOUR DATA!!!

Very grateful (as always) for the updates, but I really hope ywg can help with a problem.

If I update from 1.54 to any later wood releases (tested 1.56, 1.57, 1.58, 1.59) my .nds games stop working.
(When I try to load .nds the white loading screen freezes. I can load homebrew but not .nds).

I thought it was a bug and reported something in the bugs topic.
I tried everything but .nds always stop working if I update past 1.54)

I use r5 r4igold (original), panasonic formatted msd, 32k cluster size (default).

Hope somebody, ywg or r4igold can help me because I really would love to start using the rts versions, especially now ywg has rewritten read/write core as well :)

if your flash kit is legit then there is no logical reason for this type of behavior. the kernel works on the hardware, there is no magic involved. what i would suggest is a full reformat of your msd card using the panasonic formatter. then drop on a clean copy of 1.59 and 1 clean game (CRC verified), not previously backed up copies. try to load it.

Anotherworld's reply just made me think of something I forget..
I'll check when I can but I wonder if encrypted, read only .nds are still ok, mine are all encrypted (dont ask) and read only. It's just strange I have an issue now (when I'm not dumb at all), thought first it might be the earlier hardware revision I use.
I'll get there eventually, thanks for the advice aw, appreciated.

The "encrypted" flag doesn't work on FAT32 anyways, it's an NTFS thing.

No flag Rydian, the .nds secure data encryption that's decrypted when you backup your cart using wood dumper etc. I forget the name but there's a command line tool which can encrypt or decrypt .nds. It changes the crc because most scene releases were already decrypted when dumped..cheat lists would need to be amended (if I actually used them), just thought I should mention incase.
I've been using wood since woodrpg and on this r5 hardware for a long time, no problems until this new rts version.. No problems when I downgrade back to 1.54 or earlier. I'll get to the bottom of this on the weekend hopefully.
