I've been looking for some info on this but I still got some questions after reading the Wood R4 F.A.Q. and several threads on these forums. So here is my question:

Is it possible to combine Wood R4 and YSMenu so that you can use both on your R4 and use whichever is most convenient for you?

I'm currently using YSMenu and so far it's what's been keeping my R4 alive, but I'd like to check out this new firmware.

Also, does the clean version of "Again" work on Wood R4? (I believe it was the saves that were giving some problems with this game).

Cheers.

Yes, but I believe if involves booting one from within the other. The problem that just occurred to me is that Wood R4 uses .nds.sav files, while YSMenu uses .sav files.

you can boot ysmenu as a nds file and woodr4 as a firmeware.

That can be easily remedied since ysmenu can take whatever file as a sav file (it just takes a quick change in the ysmenu.ini). Technically, if you used Xenon++'s favloader (you need moonshl2, but meh its like a staple homebrew anyways xD) you could swap the initially loaded file (_DS_MENU.DAT) with the favloader (have to encrypt and rename) and then it could be a sort of multi-boot (although Xenon++ says it might be slow because of heavy .ini accessing)

The issue is fixed because in devkitARM r30 newlib is optimized.
Well, my custom WoodR4 uses .sav instead of .nds.sav.
