Do I need to make a video of this?

  • I already downloaded the game to my 3DS.

  • Yes, please make a video.

  • No, don't bother.

Holy shit really? That makes me so sad. I haven't really kept up on the calculator scene way back when so thanks for letting me know.

Thank god I still have my hacked rev.D, I remember the days when they started to block downgrades and the whole nspire community flipped their tits. I love how similar the hacking communities are with their people, problems, and their solutions.
Still, rotating a display just to screw Ndless users up... It's a dirty move. No wonder the Nspire hacking scene is pretty much dead. Everybody moved to the HP Prime and the older calcs.

Ok, I have a somewhat stable release for you guys to check out. In this release you can collide with walls!
But it doesn't actually kill you... yet.

Try it out here https://github.com/RedInquisitive/Super-Haxagon/releases/tag/0.3

...I don't have any QR codes for FBI because I suck at making them work (they usually say 400 or 404 error if I try). If someone else makes them though, I'll put them in the main post.

Oh, and I'd like to know if you guys are getting a steady frame rate. There is a red line at the bottom of the screen. If it falls below a little less than completely full then let me know what you did and your hardware.

So... I really like the idea of Open Hexagon ported to Nintendo 3DS. Thank you for your hard work, this game is awesome already. I decided to make a mod of it. It is small but can be useful. What's changed:
Now you can use ZL and ZR (in-game) to control the triangle (L/R work as well)
You can press Y to halve the movement speed of triangle (for some precision)
This mod is in CIA format
Enjoy, I guess?

I'll go ahead and implement that in the main build too. I'll probably also make d-pad left and A another left right combo in the case somebody's triggers are broken.

I don't know if I'll implement this though because some of the difficulty of the game comes from the fast cursor.

Also, if enough people would like, I can make a video of this too. I just need to gauge if it's worth my time.

That's a great idea, especially for the Old 3DS users (their triggers break much more often)

AFAIK, this comes from the Open Hexagon where you can do the same with Shift. Anyways, it's really up to dev (and Super Hexagon doesn't have this option as well)

Oh! Open hexagon has that feature? I thought it's only extra feature was the "space to flip 180°" (or if it was in my game it would be TAU/2, because everyone knows tau is better than 2pi), guess I never looked at the controls that closely.

I'm going to go modify a few patterns and re upload it for those who want it. The change log will be:
  • You can use R, R2, X, C-RIGHT, PAD-RIGHT, and D-RIGHT to move to the right
  • You can use L, L2, Y, C-LEFT, PAD-LEFT, and D-LEFT to move to the left
  • Fixed an impossible pattern in level 5
  • Further improvements to overall game stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience

Now, I really want to use A as the move right button, but that's also the button to start again (so you rotate slightly to the right every time you start a level by some semi random offset, witch can be the death of you in the last level as I have tested). I'll just change that to X I guess.

EDIT: This should work: https://github.com/RedInquisitive/Super-Haxagon/releases/tag/1.1

Hmm, I installed version 1.1's CIA onto my N3DS and it runs really well! The music isn't playing, and I am absolutely certain I downloaded the BGM-version. One thing I would like to know is if the changing geometry from the original is going possible in the future. Like how in the Android/PC versions, the shape of the hexagon changes based on how long you have been playing to increase the difficulty. If this is already implemented and I just didn't play long enough to see it, oops.

Regardless, this is awesome! I've always thought that the 3DS would be a perfect fit for Super Hexagon, especially after the developer ported VVVVVV to the system. I always expected an official port with 3D and all kinds of crazy vfx happening, but nothing ever happened. That is, until now! Awesome work, dude! Hope to see this mature in the future!
