well for one i havent gotten my copy of it yet and i cant downgrade i get nothin but cia file info error

I got that maybe 30 times before it worked. Its when the exploit didn't load correctly.

This still seemed like the most relevant forum to ask so....

I have received my Japanese N3ds in the mail and installed/purchased MHX from the E-shop. I have a micro SD card adaptor and everything laid out and ready to begin the process of downloading anything I will need on this n3ds to patch this game (WITHOUT Bricking) and enjoy it as many of you also are. Could anyone give me a list, links, or all the steps I would need to take to make this happen? If it sounds like too much of a pain I would gladly compensate you for you time. I just don't want to start downloading random files and adding them to my micro SD card and somehow brick my new console.

I also have a Skype account if it is easier to communicate that way.

Excited for what's going to be in version 10. I keep checking the thread every day in anticipation. I'm personally hoping for the rest of the weapons, but I remember dasding saying something about not wanting to stop until he completed all the NPC dialogue too!?!? Crazy!!

NTR Plugin Method:
recommended, requires NTR CFW 3.1, a n3ds and eshop version or cia
Copy the contents of the "NTR" folder (from NTR Plugin link) onto your SD Card. (There should be a folder called "mhx" and one called "plugin" at the root, don't rename either of them)
Launch NTR CFW (BootNTR or whatever Entrypoint you use).
Launch your game (eshop or installed cia).
The screen should flash green and start the game patched.
You need to download the respective NTR Plugin version for your game version!

You say we need an "eshop version". What do you mean? An eshop version of the game? Is it possible to get an eshop version of the game on an EU N3DS(with rxTools)? What if I bought a physical cartridge?

You can obviously only acquire the eshop version with a japanese 3ds.
On N3DS NTR method is recommended. Your cartridge isn't needed for that, it actually doesn't work with NTR. Your save gets carried over though, because it's on your sd card.

I stumbled upon a minor mistake in the Hunting Styles description. The Aerial style section states that you are allowed to equip 2 Hunter Arts.

you have to get it crypted for 9.2 it only works on 9.9+ acording to someone

Arf... That's explain everything... I assume that it'll works on 10+ emunand then?

yea im guessing you have a old 3ds i didnt bother i just upgrade back to 10.3 because i have n3ds and i have a physical cartridge and the patch doesnt work with that yet i think

Yeah, I can't seem to get the patch to work. I have the v8 patch currently, but when I try to run the v9 patch, it just tells me the game is already installed and won't let me continue. I was thinking I could just delete the game and keep the save data, but the 3DS apparently won't let that work either. How exactly can I update to v9 without losing my save?

I'm using an o3DS on a 10.3 emunand. I installed the v8 patch using the lazy method, and attempted to update by running the v9 CIA in big blue.

You have to delete the previous CIA, then install the v9. Your save will be fine, as it saves to the SD card itself. Not sure why your 3DS didnt let you delete the v8, maybe you did it wrong, highlight the game (should end in BXXJ) and press X to delete I think (going off memory atm). Then confirm the delete.

::EDIT:: Just to be clear, in big blue, delete old CIA, and install new CIA.

Sorry if this has already been asked or answered, I tried to read through the thread and didn't see it.
I'm trying to run this patch for the game, v9, 1.1.
When I do all the steps and the game starts, then flashes green, and then seems to work for a second, then crashes to the screen that says "an unexpected error has occurred, turn off your 3ds and try again later."
Not sure why this is happening, but now if i try to run my game normally (eshop version btw) it just hangs at the nintendo 3ds with red waves loading screen forever.
Perhaps i'm being a noob, but hopefully this is a relatively easy fix?
I'm running rxTools on my emuNAND on a jp n3ds,

from a freshly downgraded to 9.1 jp n3ds.
I also downloaded the mhx game from the eshop while it was still at 10.3 if that makes a difference?
