I have been working on a little app that will notify a user of new messages and alerts that they get here. I wanted to know if I should make it "user ready" because right now it is kinda janky.

Just speaking for myself, but I don't have any problems just using the site as is on mobile devices, including checking messages/alerts as they pop up. Then again, I usually only check before/after work.

Yes, I open source most things. My Colorizer is not just because I am working on a library that it uses and it is not anywhere near done.
