Hacking Windows just up and stopped detecting my WBFS HDD wtf

This is why I utterly and completely despise and hate computers.
I haven't hooked up the drive in over a week, no changes have been made to Windows or anything at all, and now, for no reason at all it just won't detect the drive, it doesn't show up in my computer, WBFS Manager doesn't detect a new drive letter and the USB Safely remove device doesn't detect it either.

It worked flawlessly over a week ago, it works on the Wii, I can't even beging to understand what happened and tbh guys, I don't have patience to figure it out either, I hate computers with a passion

I do know more than the average user about them but I don't like em one bit.

So...can someone please help me out here, all I want is to copy a few games on my HDD, copying from the Wii is out of the question since that never worked for me.

I have Windows XP SP2, clean of viruses, spyware and all that jazz.
I am on my one and only admin account

Hard to diagnose (for me at least) without able being to physically interact with the hdd. Are you on Vista by chance? If so, make sure to run your wbfs manager under admin, otherwise the drive won't be detected.

don't worry about it guys, I'll just use it on my cousin's computer, works on that, dunno whats up with this one.
if anyone knows, please post and let me know.

I'll just copy over the ISOs to my USB Flash drive and install them from my cousin's comp, we're in the same house

click start menu --> control panel --> administrative tools --> computer management.....

now a window will pop up towards the bottom on the left side it will say [disk management] Click that

then look to the right you should see a bar like
[disk 1][HD SIZE (ie:80 GB) ]
( you will know what size external you hooked up so just look for that size )

now right click on it around where it says the size of the drive part then a menu will pop up click

"change drive letters and paths"
then click
"add"
then just pick the drive letter and click
"ok" then click "ok" again.....

then your "wii" formatted drive should work...


this is what i've had to do an like 2 of 8 different computers i've helped my friends set up for usbloaders.
( you might have to restart to get the drives to show a letter )....

if it shows the letter of the drive in MY COMPUTER and u click it. it says "format drive" click no...

the drive is wii formatted but windows wants it in a format it can read so


"DO NOT CLICK OK TO FORMATTING WHEN U CLICK ON DRIVE IN MY COMPUTER"

also I know how windows reacts to a HDD/device formatted to a file system it can't recognize if you try to access it, I'm not THAT much of a noob lol

Anyway I installed the games from my cousin's computer.

maybe over time it'll fix itself, I always have weird ass problems like this that nobody can resolve so i often either fix them myself or they somehow fix themselves.

Your drive is probably corrupted.

My little program on post #4 could scan all PhysicalDrive (including USBs) to find existing WBFS partitions. Although it can not help you right now and it seems your computer has something wrong, it is still possible that some WBFS tools may include this auto-search function to work on your case.

go to start --> regedit --> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Spooler --> double-click on Depend On Service and change the value to RPCSS. close regedit and restart your PC.
