I just bought a new acer computer for my uncle's mother in-law's ex-husband's new wife from best buy, they want me to buy their windows recovery disk for 120 dollars, I says fuck that. The computer has a legit windows 7 key, will any windows 7 home edition I download from net work with the acer computer's cd key if I was to reformat and install? thanx.

this is the computer:

Yes it should work once you get an untouched iso, there should be no need to crack it. As it's from an OEM you may need to get the Acer certificate and import it into windows if you ever reinstall also.

OEMs activate their copies offline by a cdkey, certificate and a marker found in the bios of the motherboard. Once all these match it activates.

The following link should help. I don't believe there is anything illegal in it, as these keys are made public and are all the same for any acer computer. They will also only activate on an acer computer with a valid 2.1 SLIC in the bios, which usually means you have to be entitled to install windows 7 for this to even work.
