hell-o all tempers and temperesses!:grog:
tonight i'm gonna have a windows8.1 tablet, and would like to have your opinions on what i should know before ''going wild!'' with it. :shy::whip:

i'm used to ipads and Android tablets, but i NEVER tried windows 8 on a tablet..personnaly i never even kept windows8 on a pc..i prefer xp and 7...
On android devices, i'm always seeking for similar software for stuff i frequently use (blender, photoshop, EditPRO, etc..) but its never the same as the real ones .. so windows8.1 on a tablet should bring to me what i'm seeking on such device: productivity!

so, here's some questionning i was holding in my brain:

-is the compatibility really is to the point that i can actually use any software made for win8, on the tablet?
-what program is the more precise when comes to drawing?
- is there a way to completly remove the ''metro dash'' and only use the desktop? (..weird saying this for a tablet..perhaps..workspace?..anyway..)
-do you love sushi as much as i do?

thanks for reading!:moogle:

you can use all software on it as long as your tablet is a "pro" tablet, if its RT you can only use programs that are on the windows store. Some games may not work well or at all on your tablet even if you have a pro one as the graphics cards is not powerful enough. Also some apps may not run on tablet due to processor requirements or screen size. For example rpgmaker vx ace has some issues on 7 inch windows tablets as the program was designed for a larger display.

As for removing metro, there a few 3rd party add-ons you can use to allow you to completely bypass metro. I am not completely sure but I think the newer versions of windows 8 (i think 8.1) also allow you to bypass metro.

since you will be using desktop you may want to invest in a bluetooth keyboard and mouse. The touchscreen and on-screen keyboard is not fun to use for desktop applications but they work fine for "tablet apps" like the ones you see on ipad and android. some windows tablets have charge port and usb port the same, so if you use usb devices you cannot charge at the same time. This is another reason why you may wanna go with bluetooth keyboard/mouse

never tried sushi.

thanks for the reply!
yah i made myself a usb otg for plugging my keyboard and mouse and its sweet for some programs! so far, every programs i've installed works perfecty, i'm pretty happy with this tablet..but:

i have a small issue and i'm woundering if anyone have already had it.,
when plugged in for charging, the charging battery indicator never reaches 100%, it stops at about 80%...but once i power it on, the battery is actually fully charged (in the taskbar it shows 100%)
..should i be concerned?

Yeah I'd replace it just to be safe and make sure the box is ok

Generally I'd say use the latest, but I hardly ever use Firefox and it's certainly not installed on my tablet. There's also Pale Moon, which is a Firefox spinoff aimed at efficiency, which might be worthwhile for a tablet.

Despite having a quad-core x86 processor and 2GB of RAM, there're still some limits as to what a tablet will be able to run, obviously; still, TF2 works fine on X98 Air II, Crusader Kings II works even if it's laggy, and some people have even milked halfway-playable framerates out of Skyrim on a tablet with similar specs. Still, most programs designed for 32-bit Windows will run if they run at all on Windows 8.

If you're looking for drawing and accuracy, I'd have recommended a slightly older Vivotab Note 8 over the current Vivotab 8 models; not a huge difference in processing power and RAM, I don't think, but it has integrated pressure-sensitive stylus support and comes with a Wacom stylus.

As for a more traditional layout vs Metro, I'd recommend either Classic Shell or upgrading to the Windows 10 preview (if it's not a complete pain in the ass on Asus tablets), although I've found that the Metro Start screen actually fits well on tablets, even if it doesn't on a touch-enabled notebook.

Yah me too i think the metro dash actually is good on it! I mean, before even having the tablet i searched some apps to bypass is, but i surprisingly love it on the tablet. Its great to have both menus (metro and desktop) , one side you have the desktop and the other side you have all the shortcuts you want..i love organizing this dash with all the shortcuts for good apps... and you can make your own icons with OblyTile!...anyway..

As for skyrim i actually tryed it on the tablet and i was extremely surprised,..i only got between 22-29fps but of course i wouldnt actually start a gameplay on it but for testing it was pretty nice to see it running on it :P

For the drawing, i'm also surprised.. i knew from the start that this tablet dont have a wacom touchscreen so i wasnt getting my hopes to high about drawing on it... but it actually draws extremely precise! but it would be better with a capacitive pen like this:

And for firefox, i tried the 3 latest versions (not beta..) but i had some small isues with IDM's addon..so i was hoping to find a version stable enough for idm.. old versions works good but i'm looking for more recent..
anyway, thanks for the reply! good weekend! :grog:
