Hacking Will this R4DS version play Pokemon Black (U)?

By play, I mean with no problems.

Also, my cousin was playing pokemon once, and then when he turned it on one day, his file was corrupted and he had to start all over. Would that type of thing happen? To any of my games? Why did that happen?

Shit happens, nothing is perfect -_-". Nobody knows if it will happen to you or to someone else, we just know that it doesn't happen often to a majority. If you are worried about it, make backup save files. He probably got a corrupted file while it was attempting to write something onto the cart.

I wouldn't recommend any R4DS that is not the original R4DS or the R4i Gold, these both support Wood Firmware which is highly reliable and compatible, and regularly updated.

The cheaper R4DS won't work on a DSi, and only supports 2gb memory.
The R4i Gold however does support SDHC memory and the DSi.

As for the save corruption error, that could happen if someone turned the game off whilst it was saving.
A huge benefit of using a flashcart is that you can backup your save data regularly to prevent such a thing.

Did you already buy it?
If not, then don't, even if it works with Pokémon. You want to stay away from R4s, unless it's the R4iDSN.
And that site doesn't seem very good, you're better off buying from another store (check Shoptemp). The cheapest stores are the ones based in China with free shipping.

The save issue is probably because your cousin turned off the DS while it said "Saving, don't turn off the power".
