It doesn't even function the same way. 8bitdo controllers are able to connect to the Switch via bluetooth, this controller uses a cord that can connect via usb or the NES port. And no connecting to the Switch's usb ports shouldn't allow for this to work on the system, not even the 8bitdo controllers can connect to the system in that way with their charge cords.
