Will there ever be a CFW that doesn't require a downgrade?

I'm curious as to whether there will ever be a CFW for PS3 that would allow the user to play PS1/PS2/PS3 backups as well as homebrew from within an internal drive or an external one.

The reason why I ask is that the ones I've seen so far aren't too bad, but at the same time they mainly involve downgrading to a different firmware as well as some risk.

I have no doubt that there will be a CFW that can play backups and homebrew in the future that's as easy to use as the ones for PSP, but I'd like to know what other people in the forums think.

It will exist when somebody makes it. Either they want to make it bad enough to do it, they just want to experiment and end up doing it, or they do it for some sort of (often monetary) reward.

No one's going to figure out the encryption, you just have to hope there's another leak.
