In theory should be doable with a UWP linux running on dev mode. Microsoft supports it on windows platform and, maybe, they could even authorize a distro running on retail xbox no dev. But why? We already have VLC as a native xbox app and retroarch running on devmode.

There is Debian already released (windows only, not xbox).

While WSL distros are UWP you still need to have WSL(Windows Subsystem for Linux) installed as a Windows feature, which you don't have on Xbox

While this could be installed via powershell, I don't think you'll be able to install it from Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature as the Xbox OS needs to be flagged for this feature.
