    PS4 already is hacked.
1.76 runs Linux and 4.05 is exploitable.
4.06 has patched the majority of the exploits, this is confirmed by several scene veterans.

Like I said, 4.05 is exploitable.
No exploits have been released other then for 1.76.

If you're looking for piracy then you're better off purchasing all of your games.
    That can take years.

    Hell no,
You also shouldn't have any hopes for the near future
And btw hahahah you think it would be that easy to "go to the GameStop, buy a new PS4 and load all the games from the internet on the latest firmware PS4 and wouldn't get banned when I cheat online and play online for free :)"

    Well no, it's not.
And if it was, everyone would do it, and that's why Sony pays a TON of money to international hackers who can help make the system as secure as is it is only possible.

Yet they come with a system that's almost an IBM compatible PC.
Microsoft did that 15 years ago with the Xbox... they called Sony, they wanted their obsolete platform back.

    It's Sony you're talking about.
They don't pay tons to hackers at all.

Proud to be Portuguese but I am in USA.
Everything is always hackable no matter what. The question is when. That can take years. Look at PS3 and XBOX 360. :)

Sony purposely lets hacks slip through. The reason for this is money. Just like how Nintendo let's exploits sit there for a week or more then releases the updates, sure it could take that time to patch it, but do you really think that is why? If I know Sony they will want money.

Yea I meant geohot, that attention whore, they say he worked with Sony or anything like that but who knows..

And Zero, how are they supposed to make money from a cracked console?
It will be a huge hit for Sony because:
    1. Many people won't buy games
    2. Many people will critize Sony that their console is less safe than the xbox
    3. Many players will complain because of cheaters
    4. Sony will have to pay much more effort to block all the incoming exploits/cheater methods nor ps plus bypass or whatever will happen

When 1.76 was hacked people were buying all these 1.76 bundle consoles you have no idea how much money Sony was making. They don't care what happens after that as long as they get a ton of people buying cracked firmwares more money for them. There is no argument past this point, hacking sometimes ruins a company, but it can help them in many ways.

Don't trust rumors or things you heard.
Without any sort of proof, you can't just start saying things.

Also, don't want to be a dick but...
The amount of people pirating on 360 and PS3 is slim.
MS banned maybe 1.5 million 360's out of the 80+ million that have been sold.
say MS banned 2 million consoles by now and sold 100 million 360s (just to make numbers easier).
it's safe to assume that those 2 million consoles where banned for piracy.
That means that 2% of the people pirate, however, people with banned boxes will usually purchase another box and hack it, that might also end up banned.
Say half orso of those consoles have been repurchased.
It's a tiny percentage, just over a million users that pirate games then.

So the argument of "many people won't buy games" is pretty much moot.
Especially now as everything shifts to online.

2, both consoles are equally safe, it's the servers of MS and Sony which are unsafe.

3, On PSN/XBL? no, on Ninty Network, yes, cause Nintendo does shit against cheaters.

    4. Actually not really.
If you take a group of 10k people with PS3's, you'll see that only a small percentage of them pirate games and an even smaller percentage will cheat, refer to the upper statement for more info.

That entire statement(s) is true. I was part of a developing a team for PS3 CFW at one point. The leader and most of the other members didn't pirate. They bought all there games. Some people buy CFW for freedom over the firmware not to pirate. There are plenty good reasons to get a CFW that doesn't involve piracy. Such as Linux.

Piracy is a bigger problem for Nintendo then for MS or Sony.

That being said, even for Nintendo it's just a small problem.
The amount of people that purchase Nintendo consoles/handhelds are far greater then the ones that purchase Sony/MS hardware.

People on this site and especially on the internet that yell about PIRACY KILLS VIDYAGAEMS are to close to the pirates and only see the smaller image. whilst the bigger picture is still made up of people who purchase retail games and know nothing of piracy.

To come back on why piracy is a big problem for Nintendo..
Their hardware is weakly secured and piracy tools are readily available.
People still remember the R4 on the DS so naturally they assume an R4 for the 3DS exists.
With the rise of social media and people sharing every bit of rubbish in their lives with the Internet, they soon discover it as well.
Nintendo having no solid online structure also plays a big part in this.

Consoles with a solid online structure (PSN/XBL) usually sees less pirates as the games usually get discounted, their friends all play online, they voice chat together and whatever, hence they don't feel the need to pirate nor do they want to pirate cause banning risks.
For Nintendo, it's different as their platform is less connected to the online world, hence piracy becomes more favorable as the risk of being crippled due to a ban is almost non existent.

game sharing and buying of 2nd hand games is a bigger problem to the big 3 as no sales are generated and people still able to play gaems legally.

I honestly don't think that Sony lets hole in their consoles on purpose. It is incredibly difficult to find and patch every hole in a console. More than likely they have a team within the company that review the code to see if there are any vulnerabilities in the firmware but like with most things people are human. They won't see every little hole that could be made to an exploit. People who look for the vulnerabilities/exploit them have more time to find these types of vulnerabilities.

    Wrong.
As on that point, there already was a sale.
The game in question has been sold which means the devs and distributors already got their cut, besides that game won't switch hands more then a few times.
    With piracy it's quite different.
There's one game which a copy has been made of, ~100k people download said copy.

The clear difference is the vast number.

Gamesharing isn't a problem as there's always a person purchasing the games and second hand games aren't a problem either.

except second hand games are much more prevalent and carry no risk to the user. Piracy would be a much bigger issue if everyone was doing it of course, but they arent. Nearly everyone buys used games sometimes.
