Gaming Will the PS3 win from Wii?

Well, it's not so much about the amount as it is what we're used to. Some people will pay $3000 for a gaming PC, but will become offended by the price of the PS3, it's all perception.

And while we've been on-topic to some degree this entire time, lets get back on the more immediate track. PS3, can it overtake the Wii? I think several things need to come together for that to happen: the Wii would need to have a dry spell (and since there are very few things scheduled for mid-late 2008, that could very well happen). The PS3's current price point would also have to turned heads, encroaching on on the Wii's territory, which is another possible scenario. But the real defining moment would be the PS3 getting a slew of good games all at once. And as of now, that seems to be the least likely. It has a few on the way, but they all seem to be spread out.



I see what your saying...The PS3 might pass the Wii and 360 in Japan/Europe but not in the US for a long time..... Still the PS3 is dominating 2 regions not bad

The Wii is still quite hard to find here in Europe because of the massive sales figures, and thats just based on hype. When the big games come around, there will be no stopping Nintendo and Sony will be begging for mercy.

Lol I'm sorry but that is ridiculous. Your post is Nintendo Fanboyism at best. You also seem to imply like the Wii will be getting all the games while the PS3 has nothing. ATM the PS3 has a lot more games available than the Wii and that is fact. Anybody disagrees is being a fanboy. The 360 has much more games than both the Wii and PS3 though.

I do prefer playing my games on a big TV but I live with a woman who likes to watch stuff on my big TV and my other TV isn't that good.

I have the same problem. We only have one TV set and playing games when there's family around is just quite confronting. The whole room is filled up with the game I'm playing with the big TV showing the big graphics and the big sound coming out of the big speakers. Often it's more private and therefore more convenient to play my DS.

It's just that the Wii games are so much more fun IMO

Resistance, Motorstorm, Warhawk, are Defitnely worth a damn. Heavenly Sword has awesome Gameplay but no replay value so thats a rental.. But really The Wii doesn't have that many games worth a damn out RIGHT NOW either. Metal Gear Solid 4 is coming out still. And So is Final Fantasy.. so yeah

I'm sorry. Call me a fanboy all you want (I'm not. Believe me.) but Motorstorm and Resistance are not "worth a damn." Motorstorm is just a racer, and nearly all racers aren't anything special at all. It became a pack in for a reason. And Resistance is FPS #543523213425436324. Warhawk seems awesome though. After playing Heavenly Sword myself, I still insist on believing it's trying too hard to be God of War. Also do you think it's a little bit of a bad thing when one of the PS3's current best games is, asyou say, "a rental"?

Also I was mostly counting about what's out now, not the future. I still believe MGS4 will be put on the 360 over time, and Final Fantasy is pretty much the only major series it has to lean on now. It lost every other exclusive for a reason...

What do you think Halo 3 is? Gears of Wars? Those are considered good games on the 360 and they are also FPS so if they're worth a damn even though Halo 3 isn't even 720P I say Resistance is. And Motorstorm is worth a damn the game has amazing graphics and gameplay for a launch title. Most launch titles are badly optimized or just suck because they weren't used to programming to the console yet but Motorstorm is defitnely worth a damn..

Have you played Metroid Prime 3? Zelda? WarioWare? Those are all "worth a damn".. and I must say WiiSports is a great game to be played with friends..

After the price drop (albeit for the 40gb no BC version) I am tempted but the fact of the matter is that I wasn't a MGS fan so it's not going to be the system seller for me. Maybe I'll get it when I see a BC one for cheap or there's a hack that allows homebrew to play

Halo 3 is a first person shooter packed with features and an impossible to lie about Multiplayer. Gears of Wars isn't a First Person Shooter at all.

I play with my Wii by myself all the time. And Metroid Prime3 is single player. Plus, most of the Wii's hot games are, Zelda, Mario (OK that has a 2 player element, but not a really good one), etc...

And you can't convince me the Wii or 360 is that much better than a PS3 or better at all.

Yes yes, it's exactly like CockroachMan says. We're not talking about the current standing (well, to some degree we are), what we're really discussing is how the current standing will affect the longterm outcome. And how future events, both predicted and predestined, will alter said outcomes.

No one is trying to convince you that it's a better system, merely that at the moment it has more worthwhile games. This discussion isn't about what's better, it's about the sales and possible outcome of the so-called console war.

While Halo 3 is overrated for me, it wipes the floor with Resistance thats for sure! Gears of War is damn awesome too and its not a FPS. Have you even played it?

I can pick five 360 titles that are much better than any of the PS3 games you written about, they don't even have to be in the top 20 360 games of all time either. I know a couple of people with PS3's so I have actually played them all with exception to Ratchet & Clank, and I've a fair bit of each.

As for the Wii, its five best games beat the PS3 best games. And I'm sure you'll see that and think "OMG you suck" or whatever but thats my taste, whatever you say won't change it but it is good that you feel so strongly about them.

Maybe the PS3 could have better games than those, I don't see it personally but theres always a chance.

In a way that's actually on-topic. All of this factors in, and is necessary for ironing out the possible scenarios. While this topic may be about the battle of the Wii and PS3, the Xbox 360 should indeed be factored in as it present an obstacle for both. So it too is necessary to the discussion. And when it comes to consoles, games are everything, so the games discussion is also somewhat necessary. While all of that may have seemed off-topic to you, it was actually integral to the discussion at hand.
