I bought metroid dread like half a month after it came out, day after my bday to be exact, same with Splatoon 3 the following year. And then I homebrewed my switch at the end of 2023, system is banned as I've said but my account looks fine for the most part. I can still go on the website with it access the account settings page and connect to apps that require an account (I even got a year of NSO base for the account because of switch 2 pre-orders on my Nintendo, didn't properly read the requirements tho so the next best thing is to go to a retailer or Amazon and pre-order from there)
Good luck securing a preorder dude. Recommend you check Argos if you're in the UK, was the only place other than Nintendo that had any stock two weeks ago.

yeah thx, prolly gonna try and pre-order from amazon cuz of free delivery and what not.
also, u say ur bank account's gonna suffer, meanwhile I need to keep my impulses under control given how many games I want or have but want on switch 2 are coming to the switch 2, Silksong, deltarune, street fighter 6, cyberpunk, shadow labyrinth (yes I'm unironically excited for that), Final Fantasy 7 remake intergrade, those are some of the third party games I'm looking forward to, and then you have the switch 2 editions of games (especially metroid prime 4, mario kart world (I'm definitely getting the switch 2 bundle) and DK bonanza, my dad said he wants to get me bonanza cuz he likes the look of the game.
I can confirm this. Got banned because my save for the notorious Mario 64 NSP somehow made it into my cloud saves. New Switch, same account and no problems since. I've been using atmosphere since it first released.
Also, I got my golden ticket (Switch 2 Preorder invite) from Nintendo at the beginning of this month. Nintendo would absolutely not do this if i had a black mark next to my name for a console ban.

sort of late to ask this but you mentioned being caught in a ban wave and I wanna ask: can that happen, getting my console banned my account was on a switch that was banned previously (this is a stupid question I'm aware but I figured I'd still ask)

It's the same thing again, only Nintendo knows and they aren't gonna tell anyone.. and even though they haven't in the past they could easily change on a whim.

well here's hoping that doesn't happen and my account and console are fine (I managed to pre-order a switch 2 as mentioned above) and personally I'd like to keep my games, but if worst comes to worst, I'll just use my unused account tho from what I've searched up here and online it seems nintendo only bans your account for things such as fraud and using cheats on online games, neither of which I've done, the worst I've done on my homebrewed switch is pirate games, no games that require you to be online tho
I'm probably gonna end up making a new account just for the peace of mind of it all, I wanna ask if everything will be alright if I ended up, say, deleting my current account and using the email associated with it to make a new account so I can keep using said email

right, tho tbh the reason I've considered keeping my old account as mentioned in earlier replies to people on this thread is because of some of the games I have on my account, most are indie games or 3rd party games that go on sale for decent prices from time to time, one is metroid dread which I can easily re-buy at some point tho I'm probably gonna prioritize trying to get Metroid Prime 4 switch 2 edition and the other is splatoon 3 which is on it's way out as I think splatoon 4 will come out on the switch 2 in summer 2026 at the earliest. Plus the other reason is because I haven't played online on games with cheats or mods like smash bros, I have mods for smash, but this was afterI got banned from nintendo's servers
well nonetheless I did actually do this a few days ago, make an account using the email I used for my old account, I just had to switch the email of the old account to an email I don't use anymore, so I'll probably end up using that (the new account) when I get my switch 2 on June 7th
Ah I see, well I followed a guide that was originally linked on R/switchpirates and the only homebrew I got from here was trusted homebrew software like the Tesla menu for example
so, I have a modded switch, and it got banned around last year (error code 2124-4508), and now I have this rather unnecessary dread that I'll get banned on switch 2 since I was banned on switch 1.
So I'll ask anyway: will I get banned on the switch 2 (when I get it) if I use my nintendo account that I also used on switch 1?
also side question: I stupidly changed the email of my nintendo account to make a new one, will I be able to use my email once the new account has been permanently deleted or will I have to change the email of the new account to use my email on my current account again?
Quick edit: I've decided I'm going to make a new account for the peace of mind of it all, I've switched the email of my old account to an email I don't use anymore because I want to keep using the email I had for my old account on this new account, I miss out on the games I bought but there's only like, 5 or 6 games I bought that I cared about, Metroid dread which I can easily re-buy, Splatoon 3 which is pretty much dying and will eventually be replaced by the 4th game whenever it comes out (I'm predicting summer next year at the earliest), and then a small handful of indie and third party games that often go on sale for decent prices
I’m kind of in the same boat rn lol. I recently modded my switch 1 since I am planning to get the 2. I accidentally installed tinfoil while on my stock system. And was online and stuff before realizing. I am in Emu and Exosphere now but not much I can do about tinfoil being there. So now I’m over here worried if I use my account on my Switch 2 if it gonna get banned as well. Which would suck since I don’t want my switch 2 banned but I also don’t want to use a new account since I have an all digital library with a ton of games I own since getting the first switch day 1.

your account should be fine for the most part, I'm making a new one for the peace of mind of it all cuz there's nothing stopping nintendo from turning around and banning my account as well, not to mention the games I had that I cared about on my old account I can easily re-buy again (except splatoon 3 cuz I predict the fourth game will come out summer next year at the earliest so what'd be the point of getting splat 3, playing for a year, and then having the game overshadowed by splat 4)
So, did you try that account from the banned switch on your switch 2?
I have a simillar dilema, well I played games like fortnite, apex and fall guys using semi-stock switch (custom firmware in sysnand) to overclock switch and un unlock the frame rate (it was awesome haha) and I just decided to go to stock using atmosphere, I have done that like 2 years ago, and recently I had a mig switch and I used it accidentally in the stock partition BUT with my legal copy of mario odyssey in it, I did not played it just took it out inmediately but it concerns to me that Nintendo may want to BAN my switch 2 just because I did the previous stuff on my modded switch 1.
I still play online in my switch 1 splatoon and the free to play games haha.
