this is both an "is it even possible" and "are people even bothering to" question, as in: 1: is it theoretically even possible to hack through, for example, the CECH4k models and as a follow up 2: is there a scene that is attempting to do so?

No, and most likely never.

3K and 4K can't load CFW due to METLDR checks and proper encryption as well as a minimum installable FW. The only choice is ODE, which even now is blocked on 4.60.

There's no reason for any scene to do so, seeing as the PS3 is in its twilight and with no way to break chain of trust, there's no way to load any CFW. It hasn't changed in years.

Edit: Cobra's ODE will work for 4k slims. If you don't mind having a swap disc to boot your swap disc to boot your ISO (imo more trouble than it's worth)

well, once again, ps3hax is wrong. the random variable itself was never found nor its memory offset. it was determined based on the private key which was based off of the metldr exploit which was based off of an usb port exploit which was based off of the fact that u could render an spu as both read and write when it should be read only via the ppc. that's pretty much what was meant by a hardware revision wouldn't correct the issue.

Fast forward to now. Yes they can all be hacked... kinda. Some can use CFW others use hfw but both can copy games and play them.
