HI,
I'm looking for someone to steer me in the right direction please?

I just finished following the tutorial to move my wii from 3.X to 4.1 using the XFlak guide, and all has gone well.

I wanted to try play some stock standard movie DVD's on the Wii, so searched around and found the 2 apps. Loaded them into my apps folder on the SD Card, and homebrew runs the apps.

WiiMC gets stuck looking for an IOS 58 I think. My research indicates this is an error for lots of people, and my little understading seems to point for me to have to install a wad to suit it, and then reload homebrew again...I'm a little lost with what order to do things and how.

mplayer loads up, but always stops at "mounting drive", locks everything up, and I have to unplug the wii to recover.

I have seen references to another player called DVDX, but wherever I go for that d/l, I keep getting to pay sites, sign up sites etc, so can't try that.

Could anyone lead me out of this trouble with a few pointers to getting this to work.

Lastly, may I ask can someone tell me an app to load in homebrew, to let me see what space I have left on my total wbfs drive ( no partitions)that is attached to the wii...

Many thanks.

I'm sure you can get ios 58 via modmii, instal that first and then run the homebrew channel instaler once again, i'm pretty sure that will get your WiiMC working.

You could also use Tantric (developer behind Wiimc) own's ios 58 installer! It can be found at wiibrew!

.....IOS58 should of installed when you used XFlax's ModMii, so I have to ask: Did you use ModMii, or did you follow some old guide of XFlax's? Eitherway, if you used an old guide, or used ModMii incorrectly you might want to update your Wii again using ModMii - This will make sure nothing else might be missing. This time be sure to use the W Wizard options and treat your Wii as a virgin. You should be able to easily follow the choices along like what System Menu you would like and such... If you really just want to install IOS58 and be done with it, you can download IOS58 as a WAD using ModMii's download page #1, or use NUSD. You could also use the IOS58 Installer just as long as you have HBC v1.07 or up. You may also want to know that HBC v1.07+ is really meant to run using IOS58 as well and should be re-installed after IOS58 is installed so that it will switch over to running off of IOS58.

.....DVDx is old and has been deprecated (no longer distributed/developed/supported). Don't worry about it.

Your USB Loader should list the amount of free space you have left on your WBFS drive. If it doesn't, see if there is a newer version or switch to a loader that does like USB Loader GX. On the Windows/PC side of things you can check the free space and manage the WBFS drive using Wii Backup Manager for Windows?.

Can't see what I have done wrong, the mod works lovely, except dvd's won't play

When you say add the IOS wad and run homebrew again, does that mean to start from scratch and do everything again, or do I find the wad somewhere, install that somewhere on the sd card, and then run it from my existing homebrew on the wii?

Sorry for being a bit slow, just not want ing to end in a brick, as I am doing this alone, without any assistances but your own.

Thank you

Looks like you have IOS58 instaled, did you miss the part in the guide that tells you to check that the HB channel is running through IOS58 and if not to re-instal the HB channel.

Open the HB channel hit the home button on the wiimote and in the top right corner it will tell you what IOS it it running on, if it's anything other than IOS58 re-instal the HB channel

Thanks again for the reply bumper.

I did what you said, the numbers are:
1.0.8 IOS 37 v22.31

I wonder how that happens?

When you say just reinstall HB, is there a tutorial here how to do that...I'll start searching.

Many thanks...

EDit...You are quite correct...I did miss the bit you mentioned i.e.If the HBC is using an IOS other than IOS58 or your homebrew channel is upside-down, make a note of it as it applies later in the guide (you will have to reinstall the HBC).
I shall go back and mend my error. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TELLING ME...I really appreciate all the help.

ROFL!!! IOS37 hasn't been used (by default) for years! You must have installed it without IOS61 or IOS58.

Sorry JoostinOnline, but I followed the wizard, and the post 3 up from here is a copy of the dos window...I just don't understand why it has done all this when I followed the tutorial, except for the section that Bumper told me to review. It is either me or the tutorial wrong, and I suspect me, BUT WHERE am I getting it wrong if all the others get it right?

Sorry...but I'm lost??

It may be a good idea for you to just start over and follow the guide as is m8 don't miss anything.
Agreed. If the IOS install failed, other things could have failed as well. It's best to redo everything.

Thanks fellas, I'd better follow the concensus then.

I upgraded this from a 3.x to 4.1, so now I need to follow the 4.1 to 4.1 wizard...that right?

Check your sys menu in settings and use the correct settings in the wizard.
