I believe the update is suppose to add better support for media, so your discs are read better. To me anything that can improve the performance of something is pretty much worth updating, but thats my opinion.

The first question that you're gonna be asked in response to that is if you soldered the DVD upgrade contact point. There was another instance of the exact same thing you said on this forum, I believe the person found out that he didn't solder that point (it's not required for the wiikey to work).

For a Wiikey, I wasn't aware there was an optional solder point. I know for the Cyclowiz, there is. But for the Wiikey, even in the installation guide, there are 6 points to solder. Which exactly is the one you are talking about?

From what I know its suppose to be the one contact that is diagonal on the part where there looks like there is a square cut out. Take a look at the wiikey pic on wiikey.cn and you'll know what I mean. That's what I have read, so don't take my word entirely for it, its just what I read else where.

That's not an oxymoron AT ALL, hahaha.

I'll be waiting forever for the config disc since I only have DVD-R discs right now.

They can boot it. I think once you update it the old config discs work again too.(which I don't think it's any use?)

I also haven't gotten a DRE since I updated. Usually if I left my Wii on standby it would get to warm and wouldn't read the discs, but now it seems to work fine even with MP3:C, which sometimes gave me DRE's(not the best media/burner)

i think putting a dvd-r in my wii is less obvious than 2 butt chicks of a hot lady on my 50" plasma staring at you in the face matey. plus i think the gf would prefer if i bought pirated wii games than buying porn if you get my drift. oggling at chicks is a more sensitive issue

I'd be like "I look at her ass because it reminds me of how good I have it with your ass"... some girls would fall for that stuff.

And kind of funny, Wiikey team announced they would release a proper version "very soon"... in Wiikey team time that brings us to about October 2nd, 2009. It's really unbelievable...

Bring it back to your modder. They programmed the chip wrong. Tell them to update the wiikey.hex. It'll work after that.
The reason why you get an error is because the previous hex had one of the fuse values wrong.

So is this the only way? When Wiikey ofically releases their update, it will still show this mesage?

If so is there another way, like patching an iso directly, to fix audiofix?

    I just recently picked up a n64 from a garage sell, and looking to mod it and add a HDMI port to it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3548173115...044&customid=4f3038da73b61afddf7e5e90f4153856

    I'd like to find a power strip and HDMI selector built in 1 unit, so I can select which game system I want, and will switch to that hdmi, and power on that plug/power supply only, so don't have all game systems powered all the time, but can't find anything like. May just have to make something myself.

    Maybe start a kick starter page and sell them, yea right. Big N would prob C&D me, not anything Big N related, but just because that's what they do nowdays. Then come out with they own in a year or so.

    @Xdqwerty, Nice. Which operating system are you installing?
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    @SylverReZ, windows 10 and some linux distro like linux mint

    dualbooth
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Xdqwerty, Yeah, I'd recommend having another OS just in-case you want to play games.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    At least Linux doesn't contain spyware than what Windows has.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    @SylverReZ, cuz of lag?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Xdqwerty, No. Whenever you use the internet on Windows, Microsoft collects personal data and installs bloatware that isn't necessarily needed, such as Edge.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    Speaking of which
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    @SylverReZ,
    I recall @impeeza mentioned some trick about not having bloatware when installing windows where you set up your country to "world" or smh like that

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    Yes, you can debloat the operating system, but in some cases for me it just reinstalls them.

    @SylverReZ,
    I also recall my brother downloded a "non bloated" version of windows 11 on his pc

  • impeeza @ impeeza:
    @Xdqwerty yes, when you are installing Windows on the first steps you are asked for your current location, you MUST to select «international» so no bloatware is installed, because the bloatware is location based. if this night I have some time I will setup a VM and take screenshots.
