RC1 of the WiKey upgrade has been sitting in th hands of testers for a while. It's obviously not fake since some reletively big names have their hands on it. (see Eurasia)
Seems no one has leaked it yet so ugh. Damn trustworthy testers doing their job well.
So yeah, all that is old news that didn't make it onto GBAtemp's front page. I'll assume you know about the Wii 3.0 update and the issues with GC homebrew using a certain header. If not, check other news sites or dig through the shitstorm in the other topic.

So, on WiiKey's website:

[07.08.08] Wii firmware 3.0 issues
Nintendo has released firmware 3.0 via online updates. It will NOT brick or disable Wiikey; however, base and config discs will not load 'natively', neither will any other GC disc with El Torito standard header format. WiiNewz have reported that there are already tools available for building bootable config and setup discs, as well as other discs with applications and emulators. We are currently researching why the El Torito format no longer works. Once this is completed new versions of the config and base system disc will be made available.

It's easy as hell to rebuild the config disc with another loader. In fact it's already been done, if anyone hands me a link I'll regurgitate it here.

No mention of the WiiKey update.... damnit.
