Hacking WiiKey and Snes9x help

I have a noob question. I have a Wii Key. Can I run Snes9x from a SD card plugged into my Gecko adapter with the ROMS on the SD card? And if so, will it allow me to save in games?

I wanted to play Chrono Trigger, but there is no point in playing an RPG if you can't save your progress.
