Since the Wii is WLAN enabled you could listen to the wireless netoworku traffic and thus get the information you need. Or it sound good in theory at least.

actually it would be much better to sniff at router level (it makes no sense to get data of the air, you might miss some packets)

I don't know if you know but i try to connect 216.8.177.28 with putty (ssh connection), and it goes, but i haven't root pass :-(
