I just bought a Wii for £5 that works, but has a broken optical drive. I'm going to go collect it sometime this week.
I'm just wondering how will it function? I was searching around and sound some stuff from 2010 about games from backup loaders and normal channels (VC, WiiWare) not working either (it'll just give a disk error).
I wanted a throw-away Wii that can live in my bag that I can just hook-up wherever I am with my VirtualConsole games, so £5 didn't seem bad for a try. If it doesn't work out I might try repair it, or do something cool with it.
If it works fine without a DVD drive in it at all (which I assume it wont, since it should do hardware checks on boot) I wonder if I could fit a hard drive in there?
