So, I have a few questions regarding vwii and the wii. I want to hack my wii u after smash 5 comes out for switch (smash wii u's mainly the only game I play on my wii u, and I already have a hacked wii so if something happens to my wii u while hacking it I'll be fine). But I sort of want to hack vWii to record some wii gameplay, and eventually switching my hdd and backed up games to the wii u. I would still keep some things for my wii, like snes/nes/gba emualtors and playing dvd movies off of it. So I was wondering, does hacking vwii have any impact (even the slightest amount) on wii u? What advantages does hacking vwii have over wii? and will hacking vwii and then hacking wii u do anything unexpected?

Priiloader will brick vWii, themes will also brick it. I'm pretty sure fucking over vWii won't fuck over the entire WiiU, but I could be wrong.
The Homebrew Channel can be installed on vWii, but I think it's a slightly different process.
That's all I know.

I guess that's some of the advantages...

I would like to know a little more if there are any. Right now it just sounds that they're the same thing but hacking the wii is better because with vwii things were patched

Noob WiiU guide. Should cover setting up hacks, don't use wiiu.guide because it's a convoluted mess.

This is where I got the info about Priiloader bricking things, but considering the above statement I have no clue if you should refer to this for anything.
Somebody who knows more about this than me can probably help more.
You can try using Wii U dot Guide, but make sure you THOROUGHLY read the Noob Guide, understand the order, and if wiiu.hacks.guide suggests ANYTHING out of order or different, ignore it and follow the Noob Guide instead

After that report back, I'm curious as to whether or not the Guide has been updated for readability :P

Pros for vWii:
Gamepad for Wii game injection
Gamepad for Nintendont
Gamepad for some Wii Homebrew
Overclock Wii Homebrew to play games at better framerate (Not64 and WiiSXR benefit from this)
Less Known things that work on Wii and vWii:
Gamecube Controller Adapter on Nintendont
Gamecube Controller Adapter on Brawl (US disc only currently, no backups)

And hdmi on vWii.
This is why I wanted to record gameplay on vwii rather than a normal wii.

Thank you! This was helpful information.

The only disadvantages to vWii hacking:
Can't recover from bricks (but those leave the Wii U mode intact)
No custom themes
Can't use GBAs as controllers for some games in Nintendont

Everything else is just about the same. Hacking is even the same (not counting wuphax, flashhax, or letterbomb). I've used the same copy of Lego Batman & SD card to hack Wiis and vWiis alike.
