Hacking wii virtual console question

is it possible to download virtual console games to an SD card and play them on my wii, without any modding at all?
or will i have to mod it first?

and is it possible that downloading and playing those virtual console games would brick my wii?

It's very unlikely that you'll brick - but you'll need homebrew channel and wad manager at least. Depending on your system version (3.3 'v2' or later) you may need cIOS too.

Of course, if you're wanting to play older stuff from the SNES era... you may be better off just running a homebrew emulator.

ok, where do i find the homebrew channel? is it in the softmod TP thing?

and what exactly happens when you brick? does it stop you from playing comepletely? or just wi-fi stuff?

and im not sure what system version number i have, but it has the SD card option in the wii menu, isnt that the latest one?
