Of course I can blame them. The main goal of every person on earth is having only one box next to the TV that hopefuly does everything.
The PS3 can play DVD's and BluRays, the Xbox360 can play DVD's, why are the Nintendo consoles the only ones that don't? They're so afraid of piracy, yet they always seem to fail in the protection department in 1st place. They could just as well include the functionality and just "forget aboot it".
As far as Royalties are concerned, they're nothing compared to the benefits in sales they'd get for adding a function that's vital for many users. If you like the space around your TV set to be cluttered, okay - that's you. You're in the minority though as far as I know.
