Wii U Stuck on Logo

Hello everyone,

First time poster here. I decided to make this post since I am having issues with my Wii U. Currently, my Wii U will not boot up to the main menu. It stays stuck on the Wii U logo indefinitely.

There are a few things to note about my console. The console is the black 32 gb model. I believe it was bought during the 2012 holiday season (release) as we were expecting to play Pikmin 3 before it got delayed. The system has never been modded in any fashion. It was not the most heavily played console, and I can't even give a good estimate of when it was last used (at least more than 3 years).

I have already tried doing the UDPIH, however it does not seem to be working. When using the second recovery menu, I get a white screen with some blue lines (see attached image). I believe this is similar to what @fadafwet described in his post. I was able to get the logs from the system, which I have attached to this post. Any idea what the issue may be and how to fix it? Any help would be much appreciated.

what reading are you getting? where do you measure 0 Ohms?

EDIT: Didn't you rip the cmd trace? So that can also cause it to read it different.
EDIT2: it also measures different on my console. For CMD I only see 14kOhm to GND while the others are in the MOhm range
 
It’s fluctuating between 0.2–0.3 V with positive probe on GND. As for my resistance measurement, I’m putting a probe on the via and the other on the NAND-AID pad. I believe I also got the same reading when I tried the pin on the card slot.

Yes the pad did unfortunately get ripped off (still not sure how).
 
Apologies for the delay, but I have all the measurements now. I thought the best way to share the recorded values was to put them in a .txt document. I've split them into two documents, one for the card not inserted, and the other for the card inserted.

I find it strange that the resistnace on CMD seems to go up with the SD inserted. And also the voltage on the clk

I am not sure if we tried this already, but can you try this minute and test if the mlc works at least in minute?

It keeps the bus width at 1 in case one of the other 3 data lines makes problems

I don't think we ever tried one data line at a time. I think it was proposed at one point so we could determine if one line had a bad connection.

I tried using the minute you provided but the results seem to be the same.

That looks even worse then before, it is failing far before it would set the bus width. It doesn't even get a response to the the first command it sends. So the problem at that point is either with the clock or cmd. The data lines are not used at that point.

Since the SD slot is the last thing left, you might try to bypass it, by using a micro sd adapter, and use short wires to connect it to he pad of the NAND AID (except clk, that you have to get either from the SD slot or the castellated via) and then put the SD in the adapter and see if that works more reliable. Also clean the SD contacts before putting it in, to make it has no flux residue on it.
 
So this will be the test to see if it's the slot or not. I can always replace the slot since I have extra, but I guess it would be better to test it with the adapter first before going through the trouble of removing the slot and replacing it.

Just double checking, but if I go down the path of using an SD adapter, I would be soldering wires to the contacts of the adapter that are exposed (rather than the pins inside), that way I can still insert the micro SD card into the adapter?
 
Understood. I'll probably try to connect to CLK via the slot since it was such a pain to get the connection solid at the via and I would hate to ruin that (also need to be careful in case that pad is ready to come off).
 
I figured GND would have to be, but do both pins need to be connected or just one? I know that the two pins are connected inside the adapter since I’ve already opened one up (multimeter also shows continuity).

Also, can I connect 3V3 to the corresponding pad on the NAND-AID? The pin for the card reader will be hard to reach.
 
If the multimeter shows continuete, then it should be ok to just connect one.
You get the 3v3 from the same source as the nand aid
 
I wired up the SD card adapter using short wires. I ended up wiring CLK to the castellated via and 3V3 to the pad on the NAND-AID, partly to keep the wire length short. Unfortunately, to me it looks like the results are still the same. I'm still using the version of minute that keeps the bus length to 1.

it got a little further in minute, the last time id didn't see anything at all, but still crashes early. Can you show how you wired the traces you broke?
 
Sure thing. I’ve attached the pictures. The yellow wire is CMD and the purple wire is CLK. The connection for CLK isn’t the prettiest, but I checked continuity for all connections on the card adapter to the vias on the other side of the Wii U board, and everything looks good.

No clue, maybe just the Host bekame bad, if it was ever shorted. Also clean the flux off, to be sure that that isn't interfering (but it shouldn't)
