Hacking Wii u HDD power issue

Hello everyone

I have a Wii U and having many problems to connect my 2.5 HDD 500 with y usb cable. Always black screen errors related with power issue
I was thinking if i can connect one side of the y cable to ac usb adapter to power up the hdd, but im afraid to damage the hdd or the wii u
what u think guys?

Find a Y-cable based on your external hard drive that works best for you, and it will work.

On your Wii U, you have two USB ports on the back and two USB ports on the front, so no worries.
