I know this is not currently supported, but is it theoretically possible to get the Wii U Gamecube Adapter to work with Wii games? Either by means of gecko codes or file replacement of the ISO? I ask this because I still enjoy playing Project M from time to time, and the only reason I still need my Wii is for this reason. Any ideas?

Yes. I'm sure that someone will patch in support for the adapter, it's just a matter of when.

Does it need to be hardcoded into the cIOS? Nintendont supports it and a wealth of other controller options so I'm guessing not. It should be possible in Gecko, USB-loaders etc. but it's just a matter of time.
