today I decided to call my console Wii U. However, at the time it starts (with or disk). he shows me a black screen writing the following error code 160-1400,

as in this video

I'm in doubt,
1. if my reader broke even or have a solution to try to make a hardreset on my Wii U, or

2. if I can change my disk drive or. only the Wii u reader to solve this problem.

if anyone here has been there and knows a solution, I will be grateful with this statement, I live in Brazil, here I would only get parts and repaired by an ask absurd with a super slow delivery, then I would know what to do .

Thanks

Well I guess your drive and/or logic board is broken.

Thats what Nintendo says:
  • Remove the disc and reboot the system.
    • Press eject on the front of the console and remove the disc.
    • Power off the Wii U console.
    • Wait 30 seconds.
    • Power on the Wii U console and insert the disc.
      • If you find that this resolves the issue, please continue to use the system as normal.
  • Visually inspect the disc(s) for any damage or cracks.
  • Clean the disc(s). How to

Does the drive make the normal noises on startup ?

I have this same problem on a wii u I got off eBay. I've replaced the disk drive and it still has the error. It must be a problem with the motherboard or something.

I also have a Wii U with this error. I took the console apart and found that the drive isn't spinning the disk.

Does anyone know where the fuses are located for the drive? The laser lens is moving and the eject mechanism is working perfectly. It's just the drive motor won't spin.

Not many people are talking about this often. Most gave up and stop replying. This is my 2nd Wii U that did this.
What I know:
Force shut downs can lead to 160 1400 error code which means you can no longer use your wii u anymore.
Replacing disc drive obviously gives you 160 1402 error code. The fix around code is switching logic board with old one. For people who had disc problems that weren't 160 1400 this is your fix. For those that started with 160 1400, replacing logic board gets rid of 1402 but you're stuck with 1400 again. So I got a new disc drive, Still doesn't spin. So disc drive isn't the reason why the disc isn't spinning and that's where I'm at.
Buying a new Wii U is a good option. Used Wii Us are about 120-140 bucks now, Having it repaired by Nintendo is 110 bucks. With stupid amount of work like shipping them your Wii U. I can't get mine repaired obviously cause i opened it up

No luck yet, but I still haven't given up.

I'll quote myself from my reply in a similar thread about this issue here http://gbatemp.net/threads/wii-u-disc-drive-error.445177/#post-6747495

"I got an idea but haven't tried this out yet. Are you able to boot directly into Wii mode at startup? I think you have to hold the B button on the game pad. If you can are you able to then exit Wii mode to the Wii U home menu?"

And I just got another idea. It's a long shot and probably stupid but have you tried replacing the CMOS battery?

No. Also Wii mode isn't on my start up so i'm out of luck there. I'm done tbh but you should still do research I guess. I don't want to waste anymore money.

any solution to this? any way to bypass the black screen? there must be some kind of hardware security check that takes you to black screen as for a second i can see the controller sync screen...

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
Karma177 @ Karma177: @The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really...
