Hi, I recently got a old white wii for me and the kids and have been busy trying to softmod it(offline). I have the HBC / bootmii and a few emulators installed which seem ok. I used a 2gb verbatim micro sd w/ a cheap adapter i bought off ebay for the shdc and this is ok.
I also have a 8gb verbatim mirco sd w/ a cheap usb adapter which im sure is usb 2.0 but usbloader will freeze at "initaize usb" The sd is in fat and i used the backup manager to transfer and add the wbfs folder. When the usb is plugged in i can select it in the options of the hbc but no luck with usbloader gx. NOW this could be because its not a hdd and ive seen the other threads / compability list ( will get hdd soon ).

Is it possible someone could just have a quick look at my syscheck. I think ive read and tried todo to much and just feel abit lost now if i have the wii where it should be in terms of modded and just need a hdd or if i have more stuff todo.

USBtoSD adapter could work (it might depend on the adapter itself), but can be very slow.
syscheck is fine, even if you don't know why you installed these specific versions, and probably won't use it.

d2x v7 is old. (you won't use them)
d2x v10-alt : has USB Port1 support, Plug and play USB accessory support, but EmuNAND feature issue.
d2x v10 : works with emuNAND but not USB port1 or PnP.

that would be enough, as you can choose the one you want !
but, there is the "IOS base" to take in account too :
base 56 : good compatibility, but not 100% (more like 80-90%)
base 57 : best compatibility, 95% games working.

So, now imagine, you want to use USB port1 but play call of duty ....
You can't, as call of duty requires base57, which is installed as "v10 non alt" which doesn't work with USB Port1.

I think a guide (wiiflow guide someone made somewhere?) is telling users to install this strange setup.
that's not very practicable. I really don't understand how that user ended with that setup.
I would install both base57 instead, which have better compatibility, one will be used for Port1 (if really needed), the other for EmuNAND on port0 or SD.

Hi, OK cool a hdd is on the list with some controllers and mem card :)

Cyan, I used this guide for the cios install using nus downloader for the wads Here

Do you mean put v10 beta53 for both ios249 and 250 both base 57? Or just change the v10 beta53 to base 57 instead of 56?

Sorry for not understanding.
Thanks for the help

ah, that's the guide which tell users to do that. I know lot of users are following it.
I just don't understand why they are saying " based on the experience of the general community." as based on the technical information it's not very useful.

What I meant is either :

1. dual base same version:
249 : d2x v10 r52 base56
250 : d2x v10 r52 base 57

OR

2. dual version same base:
249 : d2x v10 r52 base 57
250 : d2x v10-alt r53 base 57

Setup 1 = port 0 only, slightly faster loading time with slot 249, but not all games are working. slot250 has better compatibility, but is slightly slower than base56 in the slot249.
setup 2 = both have the best IOS base compatibility (base 57) the difference is slot249 works with EmuNAND (r52) and slot250 works with USB Port1 (in case of dual HDD, but not for emunand).

Setup 1 = performance (read speed for 80% games, compatibility for 10%)
setup 2 = compatibility (90% games, USB Port or emuNAND choice)

doing a mix is not helpful and not working. the only advantage to r53 is using USB Port 1.
if you don't intend to use 2 HDD at the same time, don't install r53, use only r52.
If you want port1 support, install both r53 (instead of r52) in Setup 1.

what the guide suggest is :
249 : play 80% wii games from port 1, so let's try the other slot for next 10%...
250 : don't work on port 1 ... it doesn't play the next 10% games without switching the port... not very useful. so if you have to use Port0 for wii games, you don't need r53.

following the guide without explanation will work, but you will have to get help later on forum like gbatemp to ask why it doesn't play your game and how to fix it.

Yes im abit late to the scene and there seems to be lots of "guides" and "videos" most seem abit old but i thought that site looked like the right guide for me but maybe not.

Thanks for explaining, great info. I shall get busy on that later today! :)

Thanks :)
