Hacking Wii mod chip wire?

ok im new to chip modding and i was wondering what type of wire u need and the best type of wire insulation.

Okay, I'm thinking single strand wire... as in one piece of wire rather than loads of tiny pieces of wire interwined.

30 AWG wire with multi strand copper core and teflon insulation.

If you can't find that you can strip a USB cable and use the individual wires in that in a pinch.

Are there "Radio Shacks" where you are?
I believe thats a good place to get your wire.

I can second that USB wire works. You don't really need anything else.

thanks for the replies just wanted to ask one more thing that was what type of solder should i use lead based of lead free ect

i usually do 30awg solid core teflon for mod chips and 24awg solid core teflon for power/ground. doubt it would make any difference if you used 30awg wire for power/ground. reason for using 30awg is since its tiny its easy to work with on small points, stranded isnt bad either if you tin it right. basicly they say solid core wires fail at long distances before stranded wires, but i doubt any mod chip is that far away. if you want a preference i say for modding get wires between 24awg-32awg.

yea i also agree cut a usb cable, i once broke a webcam and used the usb wire to mod about 8 CVS video camera. if you really want pm me and i can mail you some wires.

go lead based, lead free are pain to work with IMO
run down to radioshack and buy rosin core, silver bearing solder. somewhere around 0.020dia-0.030dia 30 is kinda getting big though

I guarantee a soldering gun will KILL your Wii. They are generally 100 watt or more...

yea DO NOT! use a soldering gun, seriously i used one when i was like 16 thinking i can get away with using a gun since someone hid the soldering iron. The component i was soldering on acually poped, and had a crack on it and was not repairable

delicate pcb stuffs, try a 15w soldering iron, their usually cheap like $5-$10 usd, i wouldnt go above 30 watts to solder on tiny points

0.015dia is good for a job like this
32 gauge solder is fine, flux isnt really required for wii modding anyhow
