    hi,

Im having a problem with my backup loader

    homebrew channel is installed

I use the waninkokos backup loader (i am new to all of this)
And i have a DVD+ with a iso file on it (the iso file created by backup-creator.exe

When i start the backup loader he askes for a game disk.
So i insert it, then he gives it a ok
after this he starts "identification title": after a little period he gives me the following error: ERROR: Ret= -4100

and i have to reboot te system.

    can anyone help me pls

when i have some spare time i will try burning an other game to see if its the file's fault.

Thanks for that awesome help there djtaz!

But to the OP, I believe I know your problem...

It's HOW your burning the disc... you don't put the ISO file on the disc, and burn it...

Put the disc in your computer drive... open My Computer, then your DVD drive, and if you see partition.iso, you've done it wrong. toss that disc, and try again...

    Download IMGBurn (http://www.imgburn.com/), install it.

    Now, open her up... You'll see the main screen ;

Click on the top left option, "Write Image File to Disc"

Click the folder icon with the magnifying glass (top, in the middle, twards the left)
    Choose partition.iso

then click the bottom left icon (disc on paper |> disc)

Wait for the burn, and enjoy!

    thanx for the quick reply

i burned it with imgBurn at 1X speed and 2,8x

The problem probably are my dvd-r disks
the burn goes flawless but when i want to explore the cd
    it keeps giving empty CD's .... :S

Also when i put an empty one in the writer. he sais 0 free , 0 used (space on disk that is)
i m gonna shop for some other dvd disk tommorow.
    any good references?

this is normal and is susposed to happen. in your first post it said that you used dvd+ and in your last post it said dvd=r, which is it? if it is truely dvd-r than you just burn the partision.iso image using imgburn. if it is dvd+ you probably need to change the booktype in imgburn. it's one of those 2 things or get some better media. have you successfully run any backups?

If your using image burn there is an icon that looks like an open book at the far bottom right of the burn screen. select your drive type and then thats is where you need to change the booktype to DVD-ROM. Id suggest using

When you use DVD+R you need to set the booktype to DVD-ROM i think
you dont need to do this with a DVD-R which is what i use so im not 100% on how it all works - but its in the issues and answers

sorry to bother you with these 'stupid' questions.
but when i want to change the booktype, he gives me all kind of brands like samsung, Benq, .... here i can chose DVD+R but cant find dvd-rom anywhere:?

And an other thing, the one i need to select here, is it the burning device that has to be of that brand?

If you can and don't want to waste any dvd+R's I would say order the dvd-r dvd's online and use that.

You have to select the brand of burner you have from the tabs (for me its lite-on) then select change for : next write, then set new setting to dvd-rom

Yes. Get DVD-Rs to save yourself some trouble. Burn partition.iso at the disc's max speed for the best results.

Yeah if your burner doesn't allow booktype changes (isnt listed as an option) then your stuck with buying dvd-r's. Unless of course the new loader doesnt have the dvd-r limit, but a beta tester or wiigator would need to confirm or deny that speculation.

Well, my DVD-Rs max speed is 16x so I burn them at 16x.

I also read that the higher the x number is, the slower the burn, so I'm under the impression that 16x is a pretty slow burn. I'm not sure if this is true though.

But yeah, burn it at the discs' max speed for the least risk. The first DVD-R I burned at my disc's max played on the first try.

You have that backwards. The higher the X the faster it burns. The lower the number the slower it goes.
Think about 3x load speed versus 6x load speed. burn and read speeds (the 16X etc) mean the same thing

A lot are saying if you use the normal write speed of the dvd it works fine, but for the first disc try a slow speed to confirm it works - then work away after that.
