I have N3ds-XL it is on BS 1.2 and Luma 8.11
The Sysnand is on Fw 9.2 because I have a gateway card; and 4 emunands
the GW emu is on 11.2 and the other 3 are on 11.5
All emunands work fine

However today (they were fine last night) none of the programs on Sysnand work, It boots normally, but
When I click on any Icon, all it does boink sound, even the settings icon does this
A folder will open, but any icon within folder does the same ie boink
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance to all

Well if you 100% haven't done anything to the console from it working to it just not, has it occurred to you it's probably a hardware failure? I mean electronics aren't good forever, there is a reason they have a 2 year warranty and not lifetimes. Sounds like your SD card is dying to me. Check it with https://3ds.guide/h2testw-(windows)

If it says ANYTHING besides "Test finished without errors" you should replace your SD card.

Even without the SD card inserted, the console icons such as settings will not open, just the infernal boinks sound by clicking on it with the stylus

The sd card is fine all 4 emunands run fine
it just the sysnand with this problem

May be related to the home menu save data. There is a thread where an user had the same problem.

I tried to change theme and all it did was freeze the console
This might be reaching a bit, but have you tried performing a ctrtransfer? I hate to recommend that because if your NAND is dying then it could brick the console. You could also try manually removing the home menu cache from NAND with GM9. I don't know the specific location off the top of my head, but 3dbrew should be able to help you out.

I took the easy way out :
I restored the sysnand from a hourglass back up I made a few weeks ago and the icons do all work now
So some how the sysnand became corrupted
Glad I l took this site's advice and have many back-ups
Thanks to all for their help and advice
