wait.. when using aluminumfoil do I still have to use NUT in order to get the games to tinfoil 1.63 or goldleaf?

unfortunately no, because goldleaf will not let you install multiple NPSs at once. this is a real pain.

I tried them all:

1. goldtree/goldleaf is a pain since it cannot do batch install and uses its (zadig tool) driver which is a hassle on every reboot.

2. tinfoil uses NUT server which does not find some .nsp files that are not in the proper header format.

3. tinfoil 0.2.1 with usb fix refuses some .nsp files and then crashes because it is old and buggy as shit.

so why is there no proper way to install the files that we mount using NS-USBLOADER? we just need a proper switch installer. PC side is fine using ns-usbloader.

I just use NS-USBloader or Fluffy. Then use either Goldleaf or OG Tinfoil 0.2.1 USBFix 2.

I just installed zelda using tinfoil usb fix2 (base game, update, season pass and DLC).

first obstacle: selecting each nsp manually and then install.
second obstacle: it crashed.

then I only installed the base game using tinfoil. it worked.
then I tried the update. it crashed.

so I transfered the update to the SD card and installed through goldleaf from there. worked fine.
then the DLC. went through. unfortunately the DLC update (season pass) did not want to be installed due to a goldleaf bug ("already installed"). so I changed to tinfoil again and there it worked.


to sum it up: you still need two programs and a lot of hassle to install a larger game with DLC, update and season pass. very inconvenient.
the fact that it went through only shows that the NSPs are just fine, but some programs have their flaws (goldleaf not installing over "already installed" updates), tinfoil randomly not liking certain NSPs that install fine via goldleaf etc.

I just wished there was a simpler installer for switch that could batch install everything without a problem.

What is the hassle? I've not used goldtree, but I've used zadig before and haven't had any issues once it was setup properly.

zadig is NOT a switch-installer. it is just a driver manager. and I am looking for a reliable switch-installer that does batch-install (hello goldtree) and does not crash on every third NSP (hello old tinfoil).

I know what zadig is, but you listed it as a disadvantage of goldtree & so I wondered what the hassle was

it is unnecessary to setup on every PC when you do not even have to use it. aluminumfoil and NSusbloader show the way it's meant to be done.

That is a different argument, still doesn't explain what the "hassle is on every reboot".

it often forgets the driver switch and you have to do it again. after every windows update and on every new machine. is is inconvenient and unnecessary as many other tools prove.

You don't need to keep mentioning having to do it on every machine, I don't particularly care as there is a pretty low limit to the number of computers I use.

Are you now saying the problems on one machine are less frequent than every reboot?

does sx os support exfat 4tb HDDs?

I have a Western Digital 2.5" 4TB USB powered hard drive (the blue coloured elements drive, from memory) and it works fine. EXFAT formatted and full of XCI files. I use a USB C to USB female adapter and just plug the HDD in.. no external power.

Why when you simply store the xci or nsp and it runs off it.

Purpose of installing off usb with sx os is its not limited to fat32 so you can have large roms and if you want to play it on the move, install it to ad or internal.

Id find it stupid to want to install a game to a device when it can simply load off it as it is.

Having a fat32 microsd card, its quite conveniente installing the big nsp/xci from an USB pendrive on exfat, without the need of opening the console or having a computer at hand that can manage USB installs.

exactly, i have a 500GB Sata HDD sat in a USB dock station, either run all my large roms while docked

or

install to internal/sd card to play on the move.

i see no sense really trying to mount some crap third party app to a pc using xyz when sx os its simply plug usb in, goto installer and select where and what you want to install, even has mass install too.

so when we see on the front page now and then all these anti sx os folk, simply because they love a free option to play free roms and its been known since day one, when this happens they hate the paid for product, yet sx os brings far better features, so its worth paying the measly price.

plus its fail safe, plug and play, makes no permanent change to your system.

I dualboot muy emunand with kosmos and sx OS.

I quite like the feature that atmosphere has when system crashes that sends you back to hekate without jig+dongle.

yeah I've seen that mentioned as a plus, though personally I've experienced only one, maybe two crashed with SX OS in the year I've been using it.
