Iam a member of gbatemp since the Wii days. I followed every development here about the wii hacking, wiiu, 3ds and switch. And I think everyone who is interested in that topic comes here or to reddit to find out what the newest developments are.

We all can agree that media coverage is not a good thing.

So why don't add a disclaimer that pops up when you open the site, that goes like the one from fightclub

We are literally a hacking and homebrew site that also reports on the news of hacking and homebrew.
We also don't control other sites when they report the news. Even if we stopped reporting it, others will continue without us and we will become the next ds-scene

I didn't mean gbatemp should stop reporting it, I meant that Kotaku should not instantly report on everything that happens here. Of course you can't control what other sites post.

This is simply a matt of supply and demand. Lots of people want to see hacks for consoles so it makes the news. It's also foolish to think that Sony/Nintendo/Microsoft wouldn't find out about the hacks if they magically stopped being covered.

Yeah that I can agree with. It seems like every fan made project that has an obvious SHUT THE FUCK UP disclaimer attached, Gizmodo and Kotaku are all like: "HEY NINTENDO THIS COMPETES WITH YOUR PAID PRODUCTS AND IS BETTER AND FREE!!111"

I swear they do it on purpose...also it gets a fuckton of clicks so they still do it.

Frankly, I'd be all but certain that Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, etc, have people that are constantly checking in on sites like GBAtemp and many other sites just like us, to see what the scene news is. Whether we report on something someone else reported first, whether someone bigger than us cites our coverage in an article about it, once that info is out there in any capacity the cat is out of the bag - there's no stopping the companies from finding out.
