Homebrew Why does DSorganize's Web browser no longer work?

It used to work some years ago, and now it just is displaying garbled text for me.
Is there any other good graphical browser out there?

There are no good homebrew browsers for the DS but you can use the official browser with a RAM extension.
DS Organize is a very buggy piece of code. It isn't really finished and I wouldn't trust it. Maybe you used another flashcard some years ago or you had another/ new formatted SD card.

I think DSLinux has a couple of browsers in it (retaweq or something like that, which is text only, and Links, which is graphical), but I'm not sure how well either perform, I could never get DSLinux to work too well back when I tried it (haven't tried it on my newest flash card though, might have to have a fiddle with it again; can't test web browsers though, my WiFi doesn't work with the DS anymore as it no longer uses WEP).

Bunjalloo is a very nice, lightweight option, if a bit basic. If you're only using it for basic text / picture pages it's perfect.

I've tried but it gives me a FAT error when it boots up.



DSOrganize used to be the best web browser I tried in theory. It supported some HTML and images, so far as up to GIF images.
The problem is that it would start loading garbled pages over time, in what I believe it to be running out of memory. It seems to have problems clearing out the memory, and basically has some memory leaks. It's a shame, because in practice, it's great, but buggy.

I've used LinuxDS's Links. It's a really good and stable web browser, if not the best in stability. I've tried the graphics option, and it's awesome and all, but the graphics garble up when I scroll the screen, and some text is unreadable.

Same here (about the WEP). I really liked being able to use DSOrganize for streaming radio station .pls files. I even had shoutcast/winamp set up at one point to stream my pc music to DSO. Good times, good times.

Same here (about the WEP). I really liked being able to use DSOrganize for streaming radio station .pls files. I even had shoutcast/winamp set up at one point to stream my pc music to DSO. Good times, good times.

I used to use DSO's Homebrew Directory, mainly for getting the official demo dumps. I think I even tried to make my own homebrew directory for it at one stage, seeing as the existing one was so dated, but I'm fairly certain I never got that to work. On the topic of winamp, I seem to remember there being a homebrew specifically for streaming music from winamp (can't remember the name...there was also DSAmp, but I think that was just to control Winamp, not actually stream music from it). I remember trying to get it to work and not having much success, perhaps I would have been better off with the method you're talking about. Ah well, all irrelevant now without WEP.

The only problem I have is that it's text only, and the graphical version is a bit buggy when scrolling, rendering some text and images incomprehensible. I really wish they fixed that, but eh, what can you do.

I'm talking about the non graphical one separately. Launching it in graphics mode is wonky, but the non-graphics version alone is very usable.
You can log into sites and post things if you wanted to, basically use it as a normal browser, but the graphics capability is lacking.

DSOrganize is in the spectrum of horrid stability, and I honestly don't know why it does what it does. (Garbled pages after a while, or in my case, garbled pages when I load a page from the start)

Why not just delete DSOrganize and re-install it on your DS? You said it's probably something with the cache. You could clear it this way. Or if you don't want to lose your calendar dates, find out which file/folder in the DSOrganize folder is the cache and delete that. I use DSOrganize on SuperCard DSTWO and R4i Gold 3DS and both work fine.

I've tried. Maybe I'm using the wrong FAT system or maybe this SD card doesn't like how DSOrganize works. DSOrganize keeps spamming my card with new folders and even causes some file system corruption sometimes on my SD, so I errorchecked it back.

I just upgraded my DSOrganize to 3.2 (I was using an old version cuz I had SCDS2, but I have R4i Gold 3DS now which has better homebrew support.) and it started crashing. A lot, actually. Every ten or so seconds. I have been reading around and 3.112 seems to be the best version. yeah, the 3.1129 (a.k.a. the Birthday Release) is definitely more stable than 3.20.
it's a shame that dragonminded abandoned DSO. its a great app, but it sure had/has room for improvement.

Wow, thanks! I assumed the newest version was stable. I'll try to reflash my SD card because it corrupted it quite a bit and I'll give this version a try.

I agree. It's a great app indeed, and was amazing when it worked correctly.
I know that people won't work on their DS projects forever though and that the DS homebrew stuff is falling off the radar with the 3DS coming up.

So far it acts exactly how it used to act.
I think I had this version originally, but for some reason thought this version was 3.2 and I redownloaded DSO as 3.2.

The pages load without garble, images come clean, gifs work. The only problem is that after a while it gives me an error like
"Wifi might be flaky". Not sure why, maybe it runs out of memory when this is brought up?
