I still use Loadiine because I've got everything setup for it and haven't got around to the USB method.
Maybe its time I transition over.

Can you back up your NAND though in case of the event of a brick, just like Bootmii was for the Wii?

THere is no risk of a brick, but yes you can back it up. You will only be able to restore it with a hardmod, though.
