Shit man…you can‘t do that.

Now I’m intrigued and invested in finding out the truth!

Illegal immigrant?
FBI’s most wanted?
Witness protection program?
Homeless due to high US healthcare costs?
Russian male 18-65 escaping to the US to avoid conscription?
Drug dealer with only a PO Box?

I’m going crazy over here. I need to know!
None of those. I would say it's about territory? US territory or however it's called in official terms.

Nice

Well today on ebay
Someone is selling a faulty switch
They said the sd card isnt getting read properly

Quick u tube looked fairly easy to fix
But i was not able to find the replacement part yet

Is that considered an easy fix? Replacing the sd card
Some of the fAulty consoles have the blue screen but that looks difficult to resolve

Depends on if need a new flex adapter or need to solder wires

What is the diff?

This video did not require any soldering
I can’t solder at all
Once tried a RGBW strip absolutely messed it up lol

One is simply replacing the flex adapter the other requires soldering it depends on if there are missing pin on the sd connector on the motherboard

Ok good point

Might be too risky to spend the money on a console and then realise it needs soldering

1 v1 for me, softmodded.
1 v2 for my wife, total legit.
1 lite for my 7yo, if he looks after it then maybe he can have a v1 softmodded next bday.
1 2ds for my 3yo, softmodded

Sometimes even swapping the reader won't fix it, even with all pins intact.
My first switch has some defect on the reader that swapping didn't solve.
I made a topic for it here and no one could point out what the issue was.
IMHO, it's not worth it.

Guess it limits me on space but is a switch like that which is unpatched
Can it still be modded or does it need a sd card?

How would they show me that?
Is it just a case of showing me a pic from behind the console or would they need to open it up?

They need to open it up. it is still a gamble even with all the pins intact, it is a gamble anyway since it is for part, you can test the connection with a multi meter. Like AlexMCS said it might also not work even with all gold pins intact, where it will requires soldering then

I don't even see value with buying a second switch. If I ever buy myself a second one, it will be to install homebrew (provided that no one discovers a method like in the past 5 years) and only under the circumstance that I sell my current one, as hackable Switches are becoming exponentially more scarce and thus more expensive, as no new ones are produced BUT existing ones are getting either banned or bricked by owners that were not careful.
