Hi, I just bought a used Wii U and the previous owner already installed a CFW. Because I can play a game from HDD(Bundled with the sale) and I can see a Haxchi folder in it when I started the machine.
How do you tell if its already have haxchi or CBHC? I already tried to click Haxchi folder but its stopped and showing "-3".

The reason I'm asking this is because I want to install another game into the HDD.
I already download some game using WiiU USB helper and planning to install it from the SD card.

cbhc will have a black screen that will say autobooting or boot into a menu upon turning on the console. that error you're getting could be a number of things, but most often it can't find the default or button press location as outlined by the config.txt file. it may also do that if no sd card is inserted.

OK, so I have Haxchi in the system and to update it I just follow the guide to update Haxchi right?
For downloading and install game, will Haxchi will work with the game downloaded from USB Helper? Because there are other source in getting the game.

yep, just download the app. by default, it's supposed to launch the homebrew launcher. games downloaded with usb helper will work, yes.

btw, u can also tell if u have cbhc by installing an eshop game then trying to launch it after a coldboot. an eshop game shouldn't work if using normal haxchi. I believe usb helper tells u which games require cfw. try one of those first to be fully sure. :)

Or you can go into settings and just check your firmware version. When in Haxchi CFW, it will say version 99.99.99 Instead of 5.5.1

oh, yeah, there's that too. I thought it would be easier from a coldboot standpoint though. that's cbhc where it will say that btw. :P

-3 error usually means it couldn't find the set app on the SD path (mine is just set to run CFW if no button is pressed). If the seller didn't include his SD card, that's probably the reason. Follow godreborn's instructions and "update" haxchi install so you know what shortcut runs what and everything.

It will say 99.99.99 if you set HaxChi to default=sysmenu as well as CBHC

HaxChi CFW = 99.99.99
CBHC = 99.99.99

didn't know that. however, he can always go to system settings to check without running haxchi first. that should tell him.

Or like you said. Try and run an unsigned title at boot

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

The problem that the OP is going to have is that the HaxChi title is linked to the previous owners NNID. The OP should carefully uninstall CBHC (if it's installed) then HaxChi and then format the system. Then buy a DS game and link it to the correct NNID.

The way it's setup now is asking for trouble

I just realized that the folder have a Haxchi name and a big number 2 underneath it.
I don't know if it means something.

If I dont update the Haxchi and want to install games, do I still need the original SD card from the seller or I can just make/create my own SD card with WUP Installer GX2 in it?

OK, just to be safe can I dump the sysNAND first? Without uninstalling anything?
I just need a 64GB SD Card (FAT32 formated) and extracted Wii U NANDdumper in the SD and run it from the folder said Haxchi 2 right? Without adding anything in the SD card?

don't know what the number 2 means. I've never seen that before. if u reinstall haxchi with your own configuration in the config.txt, you won't have to worry about how the seller configured it. the config.txt will overwrite the one that's on there now.

-2 failed to boot to destination app.
This is probably because config.txt has a typo or has been changed without reinstalling Haxchi again.

oh, I thought 2 was being displayed outside the app like over the icon. that's what it sounded like to me.

I was gonna mention the samething

You don't NEED the original SD card (you can try to figure out which app is needed) but the game haxchi is installed on is tied to the previous owner NNID and it could bite you in the ass anytime. I'd recommend this:

TL;DR; The only correct answer is to unninstall CBHC-> haxchi->remove previous owner NNID->buy DS game->install haxchi->don't mess with CBHC (not work the risks to ME).
