Hacking Which R4 Card to Buy?

So, I was wondering what the differences are between these two R4 cards? Other than the fact that one of them was first, is there any big difference between the two cards? The cards are...

P.S. This is only my second thread, please tell me if it is in the wrong place! Not sure since it is compatible with 3DS if it should be here, or should be in the NDS section because it can not play 3DS games.

Looks like the R4 cards are pretty much the same thing, just made and updated by different groups.

Couple different places i've seen suggest the Gold updates faster. The second link you provided states that it works on the newest FW 9.9, the site it links to for updates r4ids.cn hasn't been updated beyond V9.8.0-25 though.

They both should do the job well enough if you don't use the RTS features (RTS - Real Time Save), since I hear it's a dirty hack and can corrupt saves. As long as you save in-game (the "proper" way) you should be fine with either one.

Both work on the 3DS, but they don't run 3DS games. They run DS games.

Fair warning though, the "Gold" one has a very high rate of DOA cases. I got burned with one myself and had to return it. Haven't tried the one with the red packaging yet, but make sure the reseller accepts refunds.

Don't worry about updates. If it works on 6.3+, it works on 9.8+. Nintendo stopped blocking DS flashcarts a long time ago.

Thanks! I guess I'll go with the R4 Gold! Even if for some reason it doesn't work on the latest 3DS update, that is not too too big a deal, I usually play DS games on my DS Lite so I can play 3DS games at the same time (shiny hunting in Pokemon). Thanks again!
