New to this, so please bear with me.

It seems that there are 3 versions of MPlayer: MPlayerWii, MPlayerCE and MPlayerTT

Which version would be best for me to add to the homebrew channel? I have DVDx, so I just want one that will allow me to play my DVDs and such. I don't understand which version to pick :/
MPlayerCE is the newest and most universal. It plays DVDs and reads media from SD cards and USB drives.

MPlayerTT is an older version which was used to make CE. MPlayerWii does not support DVDs. When someone says "MPlayer", they likely mean MPlayerCE.

MplayerWII - plays videos of usb, sd and data dvds

MplayerTT - Plays DVD's using DVDx, ie original or burnt dvd format dvd's (Alternative would be geexbox)

MplayerCE - THE BEST. A combination of both MplayerWii and MplayerTT. PLays everything you can imagine.

If you want movies/DVDs use MplayerCE.
Otherwise I recommend DragonMediaPlayer.

I've used several media players, including GeexBox, and all pale in comparison to CE. Worth a download. I managed to setup the SMB (streaming media thru the Wi-Fi) in less than 3 minutes... pretty awesome.

QUOTEStupid question I know but presumably that cIOS works quite happily alongside rev14 ?
of course, doesn't conflict with any other cIOS you may have including 222, 223, 249 etc.

It also mentions downloading IOS60 off Nintendo's servers. If I already have a 'trucha-bug' version of IOS60 should I be worried ? Or just do the default installation ?

doesn't matter since it's not installing IOS60 is it. it's installing to _IOS202_ nothing else. just downlaods ios36 files and ios60 to use do do the installation. the selection is so you can select a ios with the fakesign bug to install the ios like 249 or usually ios36 etc.

Ah, ok thanks. Will give it a go.

Been using Geexbox religiously (as I didn't think MPlayer_CE worked with SMB shares) but it will be good to get a comparison

All installed now.

1) It could be me but audio is out of sync on all the DVDs I've tried (and some DVDs code dump within seconds ... does MPlayer handle DVDs from outside the Wii's region ? eg playing an R1 DVD on a PAL Wii ?)

2) Nothing I put in the SMB.conf works even though I am using the same IP and share name as Geexbox is using.
