If you buy a Vita new, it will come on 3.60 or below.
The only exceptions are the Red and Silver Japanese models, which come on 3.61+
3.60 or below is needed to install HENkaku
I know but do I buy the slim or the fat is there a difference like the 3000 and the 2000 model in psp?

No big difference between fat/slim.
The only difference is between a 3g or a wifi model if you want to use SD2Vita, since it only works on 3g models iirc

I got the older version. I’m glad I did. It’s fatter and fits my hands well. I have a psp2000 and was thinking about getting a psp1000 because the psp2000 would hurt my hands after 45 minutes. If you have big hands, that may be another reason to get a fat vita. I also heard that the build quality of the vita slim is not as good as the fat vita. So there’s that too.

Not having to worry about a proprietary charger is helpful, having extra battery life is nice, and ps vita slim has l2/l3 r2/r3 grips made by hori for them so playing ps1 games or remote play almost feels like using an actual controller, especially for ps1 games.

If you buy second hand, check the firmware version first as places may update them.

You can do mobo swaps for about £20 but in that case I only know the phat has <=3.60 replacements available but it can be a PITA depending on your level skill and the condition of the unit.

I would say "get the 1000 model" right away before. But after having hard time finding accessories for mine, get 1000 if you want clearer screen (fact) and better build quality(imo), get 2000 if you care about accessories. 1000 is still my personal preference though lol, no ragret.

Edit: 1000 model also have some nice accessories but either it's priced ridiculously high or is hard to get depends on where you live.
