Hi all,

Seems the Micro SD I use in my gateway failed. I am in need of a new one so I thought I would ask the community for help in choosing the best possible option for me.

What's the best card for gateway reliability wise?

I was on a SanDsk 32GB Extreme and I am not able to format it, erase files or anything really with it. I have tried native windows software (format, chkdsk and device manager), tried with 3rd party software.(easus) I tried using Linux Mint to format it. And I tried formatting in a smart phone. (s3) I get different variants of format failed on all devices. Sometimes it says disk is locked and my reader doesn't have that option with Micro SD. Tried different readers too. So now I am trying to reach out to all you tempers out there to choose my next card

Does anyone know if this is common? What can I do to prevent it or fix it? Should I skip class 10? Would a lower class be more reliable? I don't mind trading speed for reliability as long as it wont affect the game play.

Do you guys think it would be better get a few smaller cards? Or would you try another 32GB class 10 and hope to get more than 2 or 3 months out of it?

What works for you guys?

Thanks,
/|/|ike

There's nothing wrong with Sandisk memory cards in general; you'd be just as likely to get a dud like that from any of the major manufacturers (which is to say, very rarely).

BTW, check to see if your memory card is still under warranty. If it is, that'll be the best value for replacing the card, and you'd be very unlikely to get another dud in return.

Thanks for the reply!

Forgot to mention that all my backups file names still appear on the card. even after I attempt to format it. I tried renaming and deleting them. It says file deleted and then when I unplug the SD and replug it in they are back. Maybe sending it in would not be the smart move as I don't have all the receipts for my games. Just most of them.

Short of child porn, Sandisk won't care what's on your memory card. They aren't in the business of enforcing other businesses' copyrights. The worst thing they can do is not give you your broken memory card back.
