a voltage regulator with 2 pins (is it 2 or 3 pin)?
perhaps the 2 components are the same... diode / resistor?
one mounted horizontaly, one verticaly one needs to be jumperd the
other pins, different brands, different spacing?

please tell me which codes are on the parts? T1? F1? A1?

and again: trace the pcb - where does it start - where does it ends @U1?

X1/X2 is this a quartz? switch? jumper?

does the "jumper"@ the left side of the pcb just determines:
M3simply or R4 "hardware found" ?

mine has a black blob over the chip.....

I think the english M3 software will work because the chinese R4 software gives the same error when you try to use it on an english DS.

Would love to know what those 4 pads at the top corner are for u think the 2x just means two identical components go there?

i'm 99.9999% sure that a hacked firmware will come out for both carts that removes the protection and allow you to run whatever firmware you want on both carts without the need for actual hardware modification (atleast i hope so)

there are 2 chips missing, cant tell you what they do bc i dont have an r4 yet. firmware hacks are to be expected considering the r4/m3 are identical. only true benefit of a firmware hack would be if the r4 development team were to go under and theres an update required for rom compatability, whatever. the r4 does a badass job at playing nds roms out the box so i dont see why people would want to grab an m3 firmware unless r4 was no longer. great review gbatemp. r4 will be replacing my supercard lite.

^^ that's exactly right, who knows who will be switching/converting. R4-to-M3 or M3-to-R4.

In my opinion; The R4 team is doing a great job so far with the updates, as far as I know there are no games that are not working. Also, this is their first cart on the market, if they wanna make a good name for themselves they better keep the customer happy
