However, I keep coming back to Doom and Zelda on the Switch.

What do you mean not available? There are hundreds of thousnds of Zelda carts with most of them being card version 000 so there is no problem if he buy it used.

Its pretty clear pokemon will be released this year. Unless they come up with some side talking like " oh, we re making a better game than what we wanted to release so this will get released in 2019 and stuff' ...

PS: I am not really waiting for CFW, as for which game I am playing, Xenoblade 2, 170h in according to the game save file (actually that is a bug, more like 80-90 hours in), and planning to play it for way longer. Actually I was hoping to still play for quite a while, then take a day to contemplate the artbook and (after the corresponding update) start a new game+ and replay it in a relaxed way, then get the DLC expansion and perhaps? be done with it... Hell, I will make this game worth every penny I paid for it, and gladly.

I'm on 3.0.0 and still enjoying my second BotW playthrough (already spent 200+ hours on the Wii U), MK8D (almost everyday with some friends), USF II (which sucks if no friend is around as I can't go online) and Mario & Rabbids (which is getting better the deeper you get into it).

I don't really care for Pokémon at this point and I can very patiently wait for Mario Odyssey as I haven't even finished the last few bonus levels of Super Mario 3D World on my Wii U.

However what really sucks is that I can't access the eShop as I badly want to play:

• Hammerwatch
• Enter the Gungeon
• Stardew Valley
• Worms W.M.D

In my country the sales of Nintendo stuff are pretty low. So I’m certain it would be possible to find a Zelda here with the lower firmware revision. Otherwise buy used.

I think your best bet is to get a second switch because scires for now have tz exploit on 3.0.0 to 3.0.2 but he hasnt say anything about releasing things for that anytime soon, so long wait with one switch

We don't know how soon but he said he's already working on a CFW.
But even if it still takes a year, I wouldn't care that much.
I've got plenty stuff to play (PC, 3DS, Wii U, all Switch games <3.0.0, Android) so I guess I'll find a way to survive ...

As you know Mocha is (very) slightly different from Haxchi (e.g. SaveMii didn't work with Haxchi although it does now with a mod).
The reasons I'm still having it on my homescreen are:

• by holding a button I boot into the FAT32 build of Mocha while by default it boots the usual Mocha
• I've made a nice custom splash screen and icon for Mocha which I still enjoy and which doesn't fit to Haxchi as Haxchi is not related to coffee in any way
• Who knows if @dimok ever gets back and keeps evolving it?
• I have two Haxchi compatible DS VC games and didn't know what to do with the second one (yes I know I could just map Mocha to any button within the first one)
• last but most important reason: I want everyone who reads my sig to think I'm a badass hack0r

well those are actual legit reasons. Usually I get "I don't know I just follows this guide yadda yadda yadda" Glad to see someone using Mocha for what it's intended instead of just doing it because some guide maker made them do it.
