A friend is looking for a flash card.

I have always used the Cyclods but atm its a bit hit and miss on the updates

what card can you guys recommend for me to get for him

doesn't need dsi support will only be used in a ds lite
wouldn't mind cheats like the Cyclods and a cart that won't need any patching to play clean roms

cheers for any help

Supercard DS 2
Great homebrew coming soon
Most games work without patching
Regular updates
Dosent rely on 3rd party support that could end anytime
However possiblity that 3rd party support could be made
Best chance of 3DS support ( no garantees
I have no qualms with it what so ever.

You have three choices for carts that have proper support/updates.[*]The original R4.
NOT "R4-III Upgrade", NOT "R4-SDHC", NOT "R4i", NOT "R4 Gold", NOT "R4 Red", NOT "R4 King"...
NOT ANYTHING ELSE WITH "R4" IN THE NAME! JUST "R4 Revolution".
  • Price: $6 from shoptemp.com
  • Rank: The cheap card for somebody that just wants to play some games on a DS/Lite.
[*]Acekard 2i
  • Price: $16 from shoptemp.com
  • Rank: Mid-range card for people that want to play lots of games on a DSi/XL with some extra features.
[*]Supercard DSTwo
cardchart.gif
  • DS / DS Lite
The card will work on an original (fat) DS or a DS Lite.
  • DSi / DSi XL
The card will work on a DSi or DSi XL as well.
  • Game Updates
Firmware updates are what let cards play newer games, these are the life-blood of the card.
  • SDHC
SDHC refers to SD cards larger than 2GB (gigabytes). If there's no SDHC support, you can only use SD cards up to 2GB.
  • AP Bypass
The DSTwo has special features to ignore AP in most games, letting you play them without having to wait for a firmware update first.
  • RTS
The Real-Time Save (Save State) function lets you save and reload your game progress at any moment you wish.
  • In-Game Guide
You can pull up text files and images in-game, in order to check a walkthrough or map you downloaded at any time during a game.
  • Slow Motion
The card lets you slow down the game speed as you wish.
  • In-Game Cheats
The card lets you create and modify cheats while the game is running.
  • Special Homebrew
The card has multiple pieces of special homebrew, such as it's own GBA and SNES emulators, as well as text/PDF reader and video player.
  • Battery Life
Unfortunately the DSTwo's extra CPU and RAM (which give it the special features) eat into the battery life a bit.

I currently own an M3i Zero, Supercard DSTWO, Acekard 2i, and R4 DS.

The DSTWO is by far the best card I have owned to date. The R4 DS with Wood is my second favorite mainly because Wood gets frequent updates. Acekard 2i would be my next favorite and last would be my M3i Zero with Sakura.

The M3i Zero was a great card when I first got it but the M3 team is a joke when it comes to updates. I still can't play Super Scribblenauts on my M3i (Among others). The last update for the M3i was in September and it didn't patch much. If you based your opinion of the M3i solely on the description at OzModchips you'd think that the M3i was God's gift to the DS. It's far from it though. Which I blame entirely on the slow updates.

The Supercard group (for the moment) are great about releasing updates/patches. It's really easy to update the card. The ability to pull up the menu in-game is worth the price alone to me.

Honestly if I were in your shoes, I would buy myself the Supercard DSTWO and give my friend my old card.

R4: good flashcart, but no flashable hardware, therefore, no compatible with dsi

Acekard: another good flashcart, works with dsi, no gba compatibility.

Supercard DSTwo: SUPER flashcart, works with dsi, gba and other cool app on it.

Click supercard sig link to buy.

If money isn't an option, go for the SuperCard DSTwo.
If you don't wanna shell out close to $40 for piracy equipment, go for the Acekard 2i.

He missed the ref in the acekard link when taking them out so I was telling him that.
I know what you were saying, but after you there were a couple of people saying "make sure you press my sig".
